Su,

My son has Aspergers and qualifies for several services: MHMR,

Disability, CLASS, etc. However, I will tell you, I have had trouble

getting what I think he really needs now. We tried to get them to

fund RDI therapy; in the end they count it as " community supports "

and pay a small amount of the consultant's fee. I asked them to fund

Gymnastics for him for his gross motor skills; but they wouldn't

approve that, because there were no service providers on their list

that provided that.

That being said, you might just apply to whatever services are

available, and see what might meet a need.

I've been wondering the same thing. My husband just changed jobs and

his new insurance does not cover speech therapy and/or OT unless he has

been in an accident of some sort. Its VERY frustrating! Also I was just

wondering what the income requirement is for SSI.

I am in desperate need of some help for my son but I am afraid my

husband makes just a little too much to qualify for most of the

programs.

Perhaps he would benefit from physical therapy, occupational therapy, music

therapy, hippotherapy (horseriding) and/or speech therapy?

You can contact MHMR of Tarrant County if you are a resident and services can be

obtained. In Home and Family Support is an interest list but you can also get

on it. MHMR intake number is 817/569-4100. I would encourage anyone to get on

ALL the waiver lists. You do not have to qualify at the time you are requesting

to be put on the interest list and the Waivers can be ammeded. So get on all of

them it does not cost anymore to do it.

Hope this helps!
