The approval comes a little more than a month after the FDA approved Noxafil to treat the life-threatening infections caused by the organisms aspergillus and candida in leukemia patients. The new approval covers the treatment of oropharyngeal candidiasis and infections that don't respond to the antifungal medications itraconazole or fluconazole. Oropharyngeal candidiasis occurs when the fungus candida attacks the mouth and throat.
