We had this for around a year. I can remember being in Florida and

having to stop of regularly to buy bags of ice! With my son I think it

was thirst and sensory! He has real oral sensory issues. He would

chew ice through a cloth.

I have read all the links you have sent me michelle on ZpICA and

that with ice it is iron anemia.

Does anyone know what form of iron is best for our kids?

Sam eats red meat but will not eat liver or green veg. Have tried

disguising liver mxny times in various dishes to no success.

Sam was not anemic at his blood tests done about 6-9 months ago before

we started chelation.

Sam is supplemented zinc three times a day also so don't think it can

be this.

Any help would be gratefully received

I am bearing that in mind! We always look for reasons with our kids don't we,

and sometimes things just are!

It's just because it has come out of nowhere and he has suddenyl got obsessed

and Sam never gets like this about things.

My first instinct when I read this was 'reflux' some sort of burning

throat. Kids with reflux often crave water or ice, I've read.

If it's PICA. Tom's goes when he eats a lot of liver (he already takes

zinc and we can't get him on iron) but my instinct says reflux fwiw

which is prob nothing,

this is probably no more helpful than mandi's but I had big craving for

ice and ice water during delivery - don't mean just like sucking on ice

cube as in 'manuals' on giving birth, but ice-madness downing untold

litres of water packed with ice cubes.

I also had a fever and felt really crap during the whole time.

Sara,

You're going to be in trouble. Did you just state just my opinion, FWIW,

probably nothing???!!

You say that again and i'll be down to slap you !!!!!

He always has water to hand. He almost seems to be doing it for fun. He has been

at my mums all day today and only gone for the ice this morning.

I'm not going to supplement iron as doing AC and he does not recommend, so the

slow cooker is coming out the cupboard, just bought a load of organic beef (he

won't touch liver with a barge pole), am upping his zinc slightly and waiting to

see what occurs next.

Thanks all for input. Hopefully it will go soon!
