in NC,

We lived with my mom for about 4 years. I was working and going to

university full time (and single parented for awhile) so she

basically did it all for us! Since 'Granny' was busy taking care of

us, it was our job to take care of her! My kids made sure that they

made her coffee, asked if they could do things for her, etc. to show

her how much they appreciated her help.

At the time, i didnt know that it was ocd related, but tom never

went to sleep until she had gone to bed and he could 'recheck' that

the doors were locked. I thought he was being considerate!

Its not too late to suggest to your older son that its time to

learn some leadership skills. He could be helping your mom, taking

the twins to do things - even watching over them so you two can have

a coffee together without interuptions. Don't underestimate him. I

bet if you asked him what he could do, he could come up with some

ideas. Rewards work well for insentive, btw!! *w* We have never

exchanged money for keeping each other company, but will reward with

treats like a video or pizza.

Have a healthy and happy year. wendy in canada

I wish I'd made my oldest son look after his younger brothers. I

think he'd be much more responsible and maybe in some way closer to

them. But since we live with grandma she was always there, so no

babysitting for big brother! I still think it would have done him

some good.
