Guest guest
Hello, Does Kombucha help Lyme Disease? Does it help Herxheimer reactions or make them worse? Thanks,
Guest guest
Hi and EveryOne, In the late 1990's I used to bottle and sell my own brand: Kombucha Manna Kombucha Tea. It was sold in the local health food stores. One of my best customers was a woman with MS who said that drinking our KT changed her life, she could get out of bed and even walk outside a bit. Another was a young girl who had Lymes Disease. It helped her to deal with the Lymes and relieved the symptoms. In neither case, did it bring about a cure, but it surely helped with day to day life. I do not know specifically about how KT would effect Herx reactions but since everyone is unique probably the only way to know for sure would be to try it and see. My guess is that it would help but I might be wrong. Any time things get worse taking Kombucha it is best to cut back on the amount of KT taken and add lots of plain water. Wishing you the best of health and happiness.. Peace, Love and Harmony, Bev > > Hello, > > Does Kombucha help Lyme Disease? Guest guest
I am not an expert but from what I have read, kombucha can bring on an Herxheimer reaction. It is due to the detoxifying effects of the KT. If you have a lot of toxins stored in your system and introduce a detoxifying substance such as KT, many of those toxins that were hiding dormant in your system are suddenly brought back into circulation. From what I have read, when this happens, just cut back on the amount of KT you are consuming daily or start using Beet Kvass following the recipe in Nourishing Traditions. -- Schmidt - Baker and Lacto-Zymologist “How can a nation be great if its bread tastes like Kleenex?” ~ Child > > > Hi and EveryOne, > > > I do not know specifically about how KT would effect Herx reactions but > since everyone is unique probably the only way to know for sure would be to > try it and see. > My guess is that it would help but I might be wrong. > > Any time things get worse taking Kombucha it is best to cut back on the > amount of KT taken and add lots of plain water. > > Wishing you the best of health and happiness.. > > Peace, Love and Harmony, > Bev > > > > > > Hello, > > > > Does Kombucha help Lyme Disease? Guest guest
Hi Everyone, That's very interesting. Does anyone have any experience with Kombucha treating Lyme Disease and not the Jarish Herxheimer reaction? They are 2 different things. Regarding Kombucha and Herx reactions: the Jarisch Herxheimer Effect is a normal reaction to antibiotics when used on spirochete bacteria such as Lyme. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herxheimer_reaction As bacteria and fungi die off in response to treatment, they release toxins into the blood supply, effecting a temporary worsening of the condition. In other words, either the kombucha is exhibiting an antiotic effect, and or it exhibits a detoxifying effect. Thanks,
Guest guest
I belong to a Lyme disease listserv. Some people with bad yeast infections have reported having herxheimer reactions with yeast die-off. Kombucha puts the bacteria and yeast colonies in the gut into correct balance. Lyme Disease, with or without antibiotics, causes an over-abundance of yeast in the body. If Kombucha in some way causes some types of yeast to die (which I think it does), it could produce a herx reaction for a Lyme diseased person. > > > Hi Everyone, > > That's very interesting.
