Dr. Schaller, it was good to see your post on this subject. I had the honor

of examining the status of the Chinese Poison Control Center in Beijing and

Shanghai a couple of years ago and met with several MD's in the top hospital

in both cities as part of the People to People Ambassador program. I also

lived in a Chinese community and taught chemistry and physics in a Chinese high

school in the Peace Corps from 1963 - 1965 and was treated by Chinese doctors

for two years.

1. China does not have a National Poison Control Center program

2. The central government has two weeks to respond with an antidote, etc.

once they get the request for information from the village, to the town, to

the city, to the provinces, etc.

..........by then it is probably too late.

3. I was surprised to see that about 50% of the patients walking in to

the biggest hosp. in Beijing and in Shanghai go into the Traditional Chinese

Medicine departments and the other 50% go into the Western Medicine section.

PS. We are waiting for your latest publications to come out. Thanks for all

that you do to help people.
