My response to Laurie 's blog

(Laurie is the 'organic' dairy farmer/nutritionist who wrote a letter to

Gov Doyle begging him to veto the raw milk bill in WI)

She says: RAW MILK

Veto misguided bill

My husband and I own and operate a dairy herd of 100 cows and ship our milk to

Foremost Farms USA, in Baraboo.

My son, who was 13 at the time, decided he wanted to try unpasteurized milk. He

had never had it before. About a week later, he suddenly became very ill and had

tremendous weakness and tingling in his arms and legs. The symptoms over the

next couple of days started to intensify, and he experienced nausea, diarrhea,

vomiting, severe cramping, fever of 105 degrees, headache and was delirious at

times. The doctors were baffled as to what virus this was, and it didn't seem to

respond to antibiotics or intravenous fluids.

Unfortunately, this experience for my son also triggered Guillain-Barré

syndrome. Guillain-Barré, which can be a potentially deadly muscle disorder, was

diagnosed by the fluid they had taken from his spine.

A bill to make raw milk easier to obtain is sitting on Gov. Jim Doyle's desk for

his signature. I wrote to him to ask for a veto.

Laurie A.
