I due all his lab testing of new products to determine applications. Ironically, that is how I found out about the group, since some companies claim ion generators are good for reducing ES symptoms. I believe that air purification is more of a supportive mechanism to help with side effects from ES. ie. If ones immune system is weak due to ES, it keeps viruses, bacteria, molds, etc. from making one ill. If one is chemically sensitive to chemical vapours like glues in carpet, paint, vehicle fumes etc., which sometimes accompanies ES, then air purifiers like Biozone Scientific can be very effective to clean the air of these contaminants since it converts them into CO2 and Hydrogen. I thought Biozone Scientific had gone out of business, or gone bankrupt, or something like that? I use one of their purifiers in the cat litter room -- seems to help. I've bought all sorts of air purifiers for allergies and such, but with all that, I'm really not sure that I could recommend ANY of them... seems like too many of them fill the room with an unpleasant ozone-like smell... I have seen some for much less, but I don't know if they do the work properly. Using such sticks is changing ions in the room. But after a night this effect is over. I use shielding fabrics. Sometimes is there bad air behind them in the morning when there is room. This bad air kakes me feel bad. When I air the room I feel better. Feeling bad because of bad air in the morning I can possibly avoid with an air cleaner. I've purchased and tried out several brands of air cleaners (electronic, filters, ozone, etc.), and I thought the Biozone Scientific models were in the less expensive range. They are also constructed rather cheaply, so I think they are making a lot of profit with each sale. But that said, they are one of my favorite brands, because a lot of others I have tried had drawbacks. For example: -- Aranizers: too strong of an ozone odor, even at the lowest setting. Also, deteriorates after longterm use due to the oxidation. -- RGF " Vision " : too powerful oxidation, with no smaller models. Puts strange smell into the air (not ozone, but similar) -- Air-Zone: too noisy... cannot be used be used in many places because of the noise -- Ecoquest: somewhat dangerous, when the plates get dirty you get electrical arcing. Also is supposed to put out nitric acid as a by-product (although I suppose that some of the others do this too) -- HEPA Filters, activated carbon filters: didn't seem to do anything But like I said before, I have not really found a brand that I would be comfortable recommending. However, the Biozone Scientific is at least a brand that I'm currently using and happy with so far. In fact, with the subject just brought up, I just ordered a car and a hotel model to try out. For example: Oh, I forgot negative ion generators. These don't seem very helpful, and also blacken the walls, furniture, and carpeting. It depends on the size of the area, how much there is in the air to be removed and how much of it has to be removed before so you won't react. Even more important is what you need removed. Particles of dust, dander, pollen and mold can be removed with a HEPA filter because they are bigger than the 0.3 micron (very tiny) holes in the HEPA media. But chemicals and odors are thousands of times smaller than particles and go right through it like sand through screen wire. If the holes (actually pores) were made small enough then it still wouldn't work because they are approximately the same size as the air molecules. If you let one through they all go through. If you block one you block them all. Chemicals, odors and fragrances require charcoal, activatec carbon, potassium permanganate and/or zeolite. Each type removes a different category of chemicals. Finally, as mentioned in other recent posts, the effectiveness of the units and their cost is important. The best comparison is the CADR, Clean Air Delivery Rate. The higher the better. If you can find a high CADR with a low price (good luck!) buy it. If you find a low CADR for a high price (lots and lots of these are for sale) don't buy it. 300-400 is the best, moderate is around 100 and the lowest are 20-30. Some of the 20-30 CADR units are the ones that don't have a fan, usually produce ozone and are sold at " fancy " stores or multi-level marketing organizations. There are other factors such as size, color, noise, etc. Any HEPA is the best for particles. It is recognized by the words " 99.97% removal at 0.3 microns. " Don't be fooled by " HEPA like " or " 98% HEPA " or " HEPA style. " Any of the HEPA units that also have chemical/odor removal material will work. (BTW, they don't filter out chemicals, they remove a small percentage of the molecules as they pass by the material). Avoid the ones that rely on or " accidently " generate ozone.
