What you don't understand here in USA is that you can lose everything you

have worked for all of your life in days in our Hospitals. If that doesn't

bother you, then you are far more independently wealthier than most people

in this country. You have no idea how lucky you are to have socialized

medicine in Canada. I might add, you are the only Canadian, I have come in

contact with that seems very unhappy with your system. The only one! All of

my other Canuck friends are actually scared to travel down here should they

become sick. They like their system. M. couldn't find any Canadian

dissenters either for his documentary.

I will take your system any day, even with the flaws.

Amen to Ringas!! I am an American and I have seen the the so

called health care system go to the dogs over the last 60 Years and I

sure as hell don't want to see socialized health care in this country.

Medicare is the elephant in the room with the mouse of Social Security,

neither of which we can afford. Freeze every other expense and let

only these two escalate at past five year rates and you will break any

economy. Ooops! Ours is already broke.

The reform that should be coming will be from the collapse of the

economy when the Fed Gov and companies will not be able to afford

Medicare nor medical insurance for company employees. When the

citizenry has to foot their own bills, the present system will collapse

and alternatives will be found that will costs a fraction of existing

rates. The writing is already on the wall and it will not be long

before insurance companies that do exist will not pay to have major work

done in the US when it can be done abroad for 1/5th the US price. Plane

fares are a pittance compared to the costs of many of these surgeries.

Open heart work and transplant work charges are absolutely obscene in

the US. Our economic collapse will be a great leveler that will have

to bring our medical expenses back into line with world costs as huge

dollars are spent in US for non emergency major surgeries. Instead of

flying a heart or a kidney around the world, we may go to flying the

patient around the world to find costs that are affordable.

The argument may be used of, " How do I know I can trust a foreign Doctor

to do my major surgery? " . It may be as easy or easier to check the

" kill rate " of these foreign doctors than to check a US doctor and, the

patient will have a lot more incentive to do so. The old bull of, " My

doctor is just great, I think " from my " good, warm and fuzzy feeling " ,

may be replaced by, " The kill rate of the guy that is going to do my

open heart work is 18% and that is pretty low compared to even US

standards " .

We have not been putting the US medical care on the auction block with

world care and it may be time to do so. In fact, in a collapsing

economy, we will not have a choice as we may be footing the bill and we

will have to be able to afford it or die, just like in the good old days

when we did not need medical insurance but, instead, depended on our

friends, relatives and our own bank accounts to weather our medical storm.

Anything the government supervises or touches or looks at or thinks

about costs more than if they were kept locked in unknowing, unseeing

and totally ignorant box to let Citizens fend for themselves using

common sense which is anything but common. If you took all medical care

away from the government and did away with all medical insurance, the

system would fix itself overnight as you would either find a workable

solution or you would die. The " die " is the incentive that moves

mountains.

This seems awfully simplistic to me.

Aside from the fact that there is no Healthcare, but rather medical care,

the fundamental reason why it doesn't work is because there is no freedom and

competition. If there was, costs would not be out of control. If there was

freedom, a lot of doctors, probably the majority, would not be practicing

pharmaceutical drug therapy, which costs so much. If there was freedom, with

its

accompanying competition, drugs wouldn't cost so much. If there was freedom,

frequency therapy would be available and practiced far and wide, at

comparatively low cost. If there was freedom, the populace would be more

individually

responsible and take better care of themselves. If there was freedom, there

would be more effective therapies available and the medical system would

perform

better.

The solution that you're looking for is not to be found in bureaucratic

socialistic control, but in freedom. Even then, you'll never have a perfect

solution; only God can provide that. But in an imperfect world, freedom is

always

the best solution. It never ceases to astonish me how in this day and age, so

few understand and appreciate the concept of freedom. And that includes

Americans in their " land of the free " . You would think that at least Americans

would understand and appreciate the concept of freedom because their nation was

fundamentally founded upon it.

At the root of our medical profession married to big pharma was a common

goal:

Scare the citizen; offer him a " safe place " ; take all of his money in

the process. However, they did not figure on the " parasite factor " .

Ambulance chasers got involved to the extent that the citizen can no

longer afford the plan and the original two wish they could find a

select virus to eliminate all the lawyers. The citizen is still scared

but the " safe place " now costs more than all of his money and all the

government's money. It is like a 22 pound tape worm that consumes all

you can eat while you continue to lose weight as you cram more food down

your throat.

Talk to any doctor now performing surgery and he is now having to log

out every suture, needle and rubber glove. The ambulance chasers are

complicating the hell out of the medical profession but we, the

citizenry are paying for it and we could not afford the original two

before they inherited the ambulance chaser.

My 2 cents:

Here was an excellent PBS Frontline program you can watch online

comparing five countries

and how they cover EVERYONE in their country. These countries make it

work.

Why can't we?

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/sickaroundtheworld/

Another couple of facts I heard today from a Progressive radio host

named Thom Hartmann.

22,000 people die in America each year cause they don't have healthcare.

That's 7.333 9/11s. Where is the outrage?

Some insurance company exec(sorry didn't remember the name) got a

billion dollar golden parachute. Where is the outrage?

I've heard dozens of Americans call into Thom's show from the foreign

countries they live in saying

how great the healthcare is in the country they live in. Today it was

an American from Paris.

We don't want to do things like Europe I hear people whine.

What? You don't want a 35 hour work week so you can care for your

kids more than your job?

So you don't have to worry about losing your job?

And this let the free market decide, are you kidding? Wall Street has

been free these last eight years and now the whole

world is attempting to pull itself out of a economic nose dive.

There has to be a check and balance in government and a check and

balance between government and

business.

ALL healthcare needs to be non for profit. If you want to go make big

money sell Italian sports cars

or something like that. NO ONE NEEDS AN ITALIAN SPORTS CAR but we all

need healthcare and without

big pharma making it a pill or surgery death trap.

Well we all know that without these " ambulance chasers " the medical

establishment always acted honorably for the victim when they killed or

critically wounded a patient.

Perhaps if medical personnel gave half the energy towards better medicine

and treatment than they do towards counteracting medical insurance and

unaccountability we would have a better situation. In our worlds we have a

domino effect of situations that feed into each other , poorly or

unregulated insurance industries, poorly regulated medical trades,

fraudulent lawsuits from insurance scammers , and pharmaceuticals that are

presenting drastically incomplete test results in order to sell FDA approved

drugs that usually offer a host of ill side effects and many time exasperate

a state of dis-ease and we circle back to the beginning. The

commonality...the common consumer that is being bullied and lied to and

becomes victimized.

Socialized medicine is an answer to unaffordable medical care. There is no

perfect system.

I think the statistic should be that 500,000 people die in America each

year because THEY DO HAVE HEALTH CARE. If everyone had health care

instead of excluding the entrepreneurs who are smart enough to opt out,

the kill rate would be even higher. Where is the outrage?

The most dangerous place you can possibly be is sleeping in a hospital

under the care of a staff and a staff of doctors.

If one, one thousandth of this kill rate was taking place on commercial

airliners, they would all be grounded and under such intense scrutiny

that the stock holders would never see another dividend.

A flat tax on purchases would also be far superior to the present IRS

tax system. However, the controllers of the rats do not want this kind

of a tax system and the controllers of Health Care do not want the

systems that work in other countries as THEY DO NOT MAKE AS MUCH MONEY.

We seem to be confused. This is about making money and not improving or

lengthening the life of sick Americans. Once you look at the correct

goal, it makes perfect sense to have the system that we have in place.

I, quite frankly, am not interested in participation in a group endeavor

where the kill rate is half a million a year. Now let's move on to

tobacco and alcohol. The kill rate here is also another half a

million. However, if you look at it from the standpoint of making

money, it makes perfect sense to give citizens all the tobacco and

alcohol they can afford as the combination income in taxes to the

governments and the revenue to the medical profession and big pharma

makes this a very profitable venture.

However, it is sad that the taxes on a pack of cigs is now several times

the profit in the tobacco in the cigs. I think this is terribly unfair

to the Tobacco growers as they have all of the risk and the governments,

through taxation, get all of the reward. If I was a tobacco farmer, I

think I would switch to hemp. Ooops, that is too productive a product

to be used in fuel, clothing, paper and you name it. They invented the

idea that smoking a little hemp might ruin the morals of Americans so

hemp is a no no but heroin is good.

If I remember correctly, poppy growth in Afghanistan had been decimated

until we took over the country and poppies are now again a huge

business. What's the deal about good poppies and bad hemp.

Some of you will know but I think poppies may be the number one cash

crop in Afghanistan and, without them, farmers would literally starve to

death.

Greetings All,

Been reading these topics with interest.

Looks like everyone has missed the plot.

Why be concerned about improving the medical system?

The way to improve it is to avoid it.

Focus on Nutrition, Diet, Exercise and Love and you have no need for a medical

system.

Sure, the odd doctor and surgeon comes in handy for physical trauma accidents,

and the chiro when those bones play up, and the massage therapist for cleaning

out the inside of your body, and the occasionally Rife frequency therapy for

keeping microbe loadings under check, but the medical system will only fix

itself when we stop using it.

Lets replace doctors of medicine with doctors of nutrition.

" All " is too powerful a little word and your liberal use of it seems

to negate what you are trying to achieve.

Hi ,

But it wouldn't take too long if people stopped turning up at Medical Centers,

for wages and salaries to run dry.

Remember Dr 's statement, there are only two problems with the body,

toxin's and microbes.

We kill the microbes with electrotherapy.

We remove the toxins (medical drugs) by avoidance.

This is simply too :-)

Medical Taxes will die out when there is nolonger a need for them or they can be

used to help rebuild important infrastructures of the country, like better roads

and agriculture farms.

Imagine all USA and Canadian farmers using fertilizes that had all 56 minerals

in them that the body needs, their agriculture crops alone could heal the world!

Eating a tomato would be the same as having a multimin!

These are the images the world population needs to embrace, and if we do, it

will come to be.

We do have a choice where we spend our money and what we eat, and this choice

can change the way the world opperates if enough people catch-on.

Sincerely,

The point about socialized medicine is that you can't avoid it. You get taxed

to pay for it whether you use it or not. So, anyone who uses alternative

methods has to pay twice. I haven't heard anyone argue for socialized universal

coverage of alternative medicine.

" The most dangerous place you can possibly be is sleeping in a hospital

under the care of a staff and a staff of doctors.

If one, one thousandth of this kill rate was taking place on commercial

airliners, they would all be grounded and under such intense scrutiny

that the stock holders would never see another dividend. "

Ummm... a commercial airliner is not filled with sick and dying people.

Your analogy makes no sense.

Ken, we'll see if you still think this way if you become chronically ill. I

used to think EXACTLY like you do. It turned out I was wrong, however.

Why be concerned about improving the medical system?

The way to improve it is to avoid it.

Focus on Nutrition, Diet, Exercise and Love and you have no need for a

medical system.

Sure, the odd doctor and surgeon comes in handy for physical trauma

accidents, and the chiro when those bones play up, and the massage therapist

for

cleaning out the inside of your body, and the occasionally Rife frequency

therapy

for keeping microbe loadings under check, but the medical system will only

fix itself when we stop using it.

Lets replace doctors of medicine with doctors of nutrition.
