Guest guest
Dave- I don't believe there is a " cure " for Stills. I hope that you do have a more positive outcome then the rest of us have had. But I remember when I was first diagnosed how I was hoping, wishing and praying that this wasn't forever. My Dr. was very honest and to the point. She told me that I can live a happy and fulfilling life, and that there is a " chance " I could go into remission but that not to worry so much about when and if. Just to live for the day. Alot of our members that are feeling " back to normal " are busy living a healthy and happy life. So you don't usually hear about the members that are doing good. As for the rest of us that are in a flare and in pain, need the support of others. But there are some positive stories. Actually I think one of our board members went into remission for quite a long time, like 10 years or something like that. No medication and lived a normal life, but then had a relapse. I know that there is something called a medication induced remission. Where you feel good, " kinda " back to normal, (whatever that feels like) but you are still taking your medication. Hopefully you will find your right cocktail of medication and feel better. I have read that your onset is usually the worst part of the disease. I hope that someone will respond to your post and give you a more positive answer to your question. I am not a doctor and I can only respond with what I have read and the stories that I have heard over the years. Good Luck and take care of yourself!! Love and Support, Keri in CA RE:Dave Welcome Dave, Just exactly where do you live? I used to live in Ferndale, Royal Oak, Biringham,Waterford and we now live in Oscoda on Lake Huron.I have never met in person anyone in Mi. with Still. There is another Woman named who live in the Saginaw area.I have had Stills many years and am disabled and recieve SSI. Of course I am alot older than you.Stress absolutely plays a part, but I don't think thats what causes it.My doc said they think it starts with a virus in the liver or brain.I'mnot sure I believe that either. All I know is without this group I don't know where I'd be now.The people here are so caring and empathetic, you'll never find any better. They have big shoulders (some not their own lol) and listen to you even when they are in a bad way themselves. So sit back or lay down and kick off your shoes and ask away.Again welcome.Elly---------------------------------Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo!
