It should help. My son has always had an excess of ear wax. So, before we go

to the doctors we cone his ears. The doctor asked me what happened, he could

actually see in his ears. hehehe So, it does work. Takes a few times to get

over being nervous having fire hanging over your head. But, then it gets

easier. Good luck. Let me know how it goes.

[] Re: OT: Preping for HBOT/ Ear Candleing

Hi , I was one wanting to do it. I have always had a tendency to

have lots of ear wax by mom says. I went for one hbot and had trouble

with the pressure and my ears so thought I would try it. Thanks for

sharing the instructions. Doesn't matter who it was addressed to.

I guess you could catch your hair on fire...!

Has anyone heard of any danger to ears?

Here is a link from Quackwatch about ear candling

but of course Quackwatch is supported financially

from pharmacy industry to debunk alternative

medicine so it is suspicious source itself.

However it seems fire is main concern and then

charge that wax found is actually is wax from the

ear candle, not from the ear, which is a

possibility? It's hard to tell who to trust

these days, no many 'nuetral' sources since the

government has shrunk from it's responsibilities

to protect us.

Perhaps one, maybe myself, could do experiment

they suggest of 'candling' something that does

not have wax in it to see if wax still collects

and thus is indeed candle wax, not ear wax.

If I do it, will report back. Sounds like

something I could use if it works.

I know he is himself a quack but I posted link

because I figured if there was any negative info

on candling he would have it along with along

with alot of invalid stuff as well, but then you

can examine what is worst report and decide

whether you want to try. Once in awhile in his

pursuit to debunk alternative health practices he

may stumble on a product with a real problem.

It's good to hear what the worst that can be said

by detractors.

I read his info. Found it a bit interesting. But, can't say I have ever heard

of the wax going into the ear and burning. We have used it for 13 years now.

When I split it open I don't even see wax in there. Well I see ear wax, that's

about it. The suction creates an upward force, not a downward force. Yes, you

can burn yourself. But, you can burn yourself cooking too. Shoot, I do that

all the time. Never with candling though. I think I am especially careful

when using them. I don't wave them around like a baton. hehehe I use a plate

to catch ashes, of which none have ever fallen, I keep the top cut to avoid

this. We wet our hair before starting. I have a cup a water near just in case.

But, I am not the expert here. Thank you for the link it is always good to read

and research. I like to hear pros and cons of everything. Then I can make my

own decision. :)

Thanx,

We've done ear-candling here too, for years, and we've never had any problems.

Done it on my kids and myself and my hubby.

Is there any chance that the wax you are seeing,

is wax from the candle???

It's up to you. I do my own. But, I've done it for awhile now. The first time

was freaky, but I figured it out. Just depends on you. If you do it yourself,

you'll want to have a mirror in front of you. If you have the money I'd let

someone else do it. I don't have the money so learned how to do it myself.

Well I have never really disected it. But, what I see is ash like. Sometimes

balls of ear wax, brown and soft.(no candle wax) The cone never gets hot on the

bottom 1/2, just at the top by the flame. So, in reality I can't figure out how

hot wax would go into the ear. By the time it would (if it did) even reach the

bottom, it would have to drip the side. Then it would be getting cool, then it

would have to be small enough to get thru the tiny hole at the bottom. Also, it

would have to travel against the suction. Doesn't make sense to me. But, what

do I know. All I know is it works for us. I've never really sat here and

thought about this much. Just jumped in and gave it a try. hehehe

I find it humorous that something not approved by the government can cause so

much concern and it's the government that is the one not to trust. I felt just

as skeptical the first time myself but I also look at what people have done for

centuries that has worked. It is only us who want to find a better way or

whatever. This candle fire is like a back-draft in a fire. Nothing will get to

your ears especially if the seal is good. (This is where the mirror is handy, if

you see smoke around the ear you have broken the seal) The tube lets the fire

pull from the center of the tube like a vacuum, nothing drips downward. I have

burned one in my hands and still nothing drips to the bottom.

is right, don't think about it just do it...

is smiling, and that is a big chore today so thanks...

  • 3 weeks later...

Barb,

Wow, how interesting is that. I would swear when I have finished doing it and

have looked VERY close at the build up that is in the bottom of the finished

candle looks, feels and seems like it is actual ear wax. I am stuned at this

information. That being the case what a waste of time it is as far as I am

concerned. Besides I am not into supporting a company who is so deceptive like

that. I have never seen a web address on any of the ones I have bought but I

sure thank you for posting this.

That is just crazy.

barb1283 <barb1283@...> wrote:

Okay, I just found some info on ear candleing and wax inside it is

not ear wax, it IS wax from the candles as stated by a manufacturer

ot ear candles, Wally's, at link below. It says that ear candling

is to warm and hense soften the wax inside ears so that it may come

out on its own naturally, so it may be good if you do it before bed

and maybe overnight some will be able to flow out.

It would seem though that warming up some ear wax cleaner/oil it

would do that better. Last time I used otc ear wax cleaner/oil I

used it at room temperature instead of warming it in. I used to sit

it in warm water to warm it. Anyway, mystery solved.

I had HBOT again and ears still were a problem. Person who assisted

me with it said at first most people have trouble but then it seems

to go away with repeated HBOT treatments. He said he took a series

of treatments himself and had trouble with ears but it cleared up on

its own without him doing anything. Just thought I would report

this information. On box of Wally's candles it does NOT say that

wax in candles is not ear wax but if you go to their site, they do

say it, so a little tricky on their part I'd say but at least they

admit is *somewhere*.
