I have asked a lot of questions regarding the softness of the two soaps I

had made recently. Last night I was making some goat milk soap, and I realized

what the problem was. I'm telling you this story so any other newbies at

soapmaking won't make the same mistake. I was putting the pot on the scales

and measuring the oils into it, taring it after every different oil. When I

added the coconut oil to the loive and palm oils, I kept adding and adding. I

realized that I had used most of the container and I knew it was more than

14 oz. Then I realized (I'm slow, you must realize) that some of the coconut

oil was floating and wasn't being weighed properly. This is the same mistake

I made on the other 2 batches. So, a statement and a question. The

statement is that you must weigh the oils individually to be accurate (which

most of

you probably already knew) .

The question-what can I do to the two batches I made that got too much oil

in them? Are they salvagable or do I just make them into laundry detergent or

something like that? Thanks for your help with all of these problems.

Marcia
