Guest guest
KC, there is testing for molds, etc. that they can do intradermally through MQ testing. I havent heard anything on injecting fungi into the muscle. I know it won't help your friend now, but when I go back to Dr. Santilli on Nov 2 I will ask him about it. Guest guest
This person is having these tests done by a doctor that is very familiar with mycotoxins. They check the histamine level prior to the injections, then the shot and if there is a reaction to that particular fungi ie; stachy, aspergillus, etc. then they can determine to what level this person is reacting. Mild, severe, etc.If necessary they administer the antihistamine. We were just wondering if anyone else had these " tests " and if so what happened with them. Guest guest
Hi KC, When my daughter had her first mold tests done under the skin, they tested 3 molds at one time and she promptly had a seizure. So, we had to test one mold at a time. That's what I would recommend to anyone who has severe sensitivities. The immunotherapy never worked for her, as it seemed to make her worse after a while. Dr. Rae was working on mycotoxin antigens, but we were never able to try that. Jean
Guest guest
KC, knowing what I do now I would NEVER let them inject fungi into me!! Before I got really sick and knew what was wrong with me I took allergy shots. After I would get one the area would get very red, warm and swollen. They didn't help any either. After seeing Dr. Shoemaker I went back to my allergist and told him all about my illness, of course he didn't even seem interested at all! He said I needed to be retested since it had been 3 yrs. I told him that was fine but didn't want ANY testing done for molds. I didn't want any of it put into my system. I haven't had any allergy problems at all since I left the school not even a sore throat, cough, sneeze, runny nose, itchy eyes, NOTHING! My opinion is not to put any mold into your body. It would scare me to death! Sue I am curious if anyone is presently having or has had the testing where they inject toxins (fungi) under the skin (like a prick test) and also inject it into the muscle. If you had or are having any reactions and if so what are they. The reason for asking is a friend of mine is having them done and we were curious if others may have experienced the same thing. Guest guest
KC, I don't know but I will find out since I have to call down to Dallas tomorrow and ask some questions. However I had skin testing of allergens and they did a panel of mycotoxins on me, so I would imagine so. They also tested molds and algaes, etc. My reactions to allergens injected under the skin has been very mild in general but the day I had mycotoxins tested I developed a migraine and I left testing a half hour early due to headache. They gave me a shot of histamine and seritonin I believe before I left to offset the effect of their testing. That is the only day I didn't feel well after testing. All other responses were localized to the skin where test was taken. My worse skin reaction was to algae, hot, red and swollen area. I hope this helps some what. I doubt they inject much but it has an accumulating effect after they test several I believe. At Dallas they space them 15 minutes apart or more so one test doesn't affect the next but there still is some accumulated effect I think. Were the tests done in Dallas? That's why the results from these tests can be unexpected and dramatic. /message/19073 -

Guest guest
---Why are you getting tested in the first place if you already know you have problems from mold? I spoke to an attorney today that said he would like for me to see an allergist to get tested to see if I`am allerigic to mold. This doesn`t make any sense to me, I`am 100% disabled and in so much pain that I can`t take my life and they want to see if I`am allerigic to mold! Insanity! They also said I would have to pay out of pocket to have a mycologist come in to prove that mold exists in my new apartment. Always something. Guest guest
Hi KC, Allergy shots were the reaosn that I was out on disability for twelve weeks last year- I would never try them again- please tell your friend to be very careful! Guest guest
I think I need to explain a little more. The shots are not allergy shots, nor are they to desensitize the person. What the doctor is trying to determine is what fungi the person is reacting to and to what extent. The whole procedure is done under strick supervision at all times and any reaction or if there is no reaction is documented. Guest guest
We had the mold testing done by injecting serum under the skin of the forearm back in the mid 1990's when little was known about mold illness. (Not that many allergists know any better now). I went into anaphylactic shock. My son broke out in hives and was headed for shock. We were given shots of deprovera (?) (can't remember exactly - long time ago) and told by the allergist that yes, indeed, we were allergic to mold. We then had a year and a half of desensitization shots along with prednisone (steroids) and were given Epi-pens. The steroids gave me osteoporosis and ultimately diabetes type 2 (no family history), chemical sensitivity, compromised immune system and chronic fatigue syndrome. My son has compromised immune system, IBS and chronic fatigue syndrome. We continue to deal with the fallout of mold poisoning. Guest guest
In Dallas, they ask us to write down symptoms after each test if there are any. I don't understand whole concept of what they are supposed to do so I am going to call them. Perhaps they are similar concept. Don't know. > > > > Hi KC, > > > > Allergy shots were the reaosn that I was out on > > disability for twelve weeks last year- I would never > > try them again- > > please tell your friend to be very careful! > > > > > > >
Guest guest
--Do you mind if I ask what sort of reactions you had to allergy shots? Were you allergic to the allergens or the preservatives in the shots? I am curious because some doctors have told me shots could make me worse. Thanks, Jane Madeska <madeskv@...> wrote: Hi KC, Allergy shots were the reaosn that I was out on disability for twelve weeks last year- I would never try them again- please tell your friend to be very careful! __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi KC, I am sorry that I misunderstood. But, this sounds like the allergy testing that I had prior to the allergy shots. The doctor skin tested me with mold antigens. That also made me sick - it should have been a clue that the shots would not be helpful either but I guess I was hoping that this time the shots would help. take care,
Guest guest
I'm curious. Is it possible for me to get ahold of the records from my allergy testing from several years ago, even if I never went ahead with shots? I can't remember everything I was allergic to, but I do know the testing itself made me very ill. Guest guest
Cathe, you have a right to all your test results that you or your insurance paid for whether you went ahead with treatment or not. Call and ask for them. They should keep them for several years at least. --- Cathe <cathe616@...> wrote: > I'm curious. Guest guest
Not sure your name, but Thank You!! for responding. I'll try to give them a call this next week. Guest guest
Hi Jane, No problem- each time I have tried allergy shots- I could not progress on the shots. I get upper respiratory infections from mold exposure- sinus infection, bronchitis, even sometimes it turns into pneumonia. Also meneire's syndrome (dizziness, tinnitus) This is exactly what would happen after getting the shots. It also happened after the allergy testing when the Dr tested for molds. I didn't get this reaction the two other sessions of allergy testing which tested for " regular " allergens- animals, dust, pollens, etc. so I do not think it was the preservatives. I also always had large localized reactions at the injection sites. The disability occurred after my dosage for the shot was increased and I believe the building that I was in was having a larger problem due to increased water intrusion at that time. Too much for my system to handle- had meneire's syndrome, ataxia, infections- the infections went away with treatment but the neuro problems didn't respond to anything until I went for acupuncture. take care,
