Guest guest
Sandi, When is your appt.? You are aware, that Dr. Sturm IS Mehta trained, but he does not have the correct equipment that gets best results. (I know some of you will argue the correct equipment point with me, but in my opinion it is KEY!) They should have parent housing at the hospital that is free. Have you checked into that? " *\\o/* San *\\o/* " wrote: Well, we're going to Chicago for a casting consult. I pray this is an option for . If he can be casted, they'll do it while we're there. What do I need to bring? We had a repeat spinal x-ray done yesterday because his back looked WAY worse to me and I was feeling the ends of his ribs We still haven't heard back from them regarding what his curve measured, but I did pick up copies of those and the original x-rays, as well as his MRI films. Should I have anything else with me when we go up there? Are there any other assistance programs I should know about? We're staying at hotel, out of pocket, and they are giving us the " college rate " since they don't have a hospital rate, but it's still expensive. We're travelling with our other children and a caregiver for them. So, aside from the obvious things (toiletries, clothing, etc.) what do we need to bring? I bought an expanding file for all of his stuff. Photos of his back? Any other medical records? What kind of clothing will he need? Anything else I need to know? Guest guest
Hi Sandi, Since august 2006, Max has been seeing Dr. Sturm monthly before Dr. Sturm went on medical leave. When we first saw Dr. Sturm last year, they primarily needed a copy of his MRI, any spinal x-rays to help show progression, your insurance card, the address & phone number of your family physician or pediatrican so thet can receive info on Dr. Sturm's evaluation. Because time in unpredictable, I brought some toys, books, and snacks to occupy Max's time. Regarding housing, please realize Chicago is a very large city and have many patients to accomadate for. I know the parent housing is limited to the parents of those children having invasive surgery. Our children are important, but since space is limited, parent housing my not be available. I know Erie is very accomadating, but again, the size of Erie and the number of surgeries performed there may not be as high as Chicago. I have a list of hotels in the area and the Mc House (a minimal donation is expected-when we were in Madison,WI it was $10/night). I will gladly e-mail the info to you if you'd like. Or if you would like suggestions as to where to stay in the Chicago area, I will gladly provide my opinion. I was born and raised in Chicago near the Shriner's Hospital and just moved from there 5 years ago. I hope you and your family can make a mini-trip to Chicago and enjoy some of the big city sites. When is your appointment with Dr.Sturm? You have my personal & work e-mail address, please feel free to e- mail me if you need more info. Aekta > Well, we're going to Chicago for a casting consult. Guest guest
The only other assistance I know of is through the Childrens Miracle Network. In Kansas you can receive up to $500 reinbursement for medical expenses a year. I will try to research a state contact website or something. You might try using goodsearch.com and see if anything comes up as well. Shellie " *\\o/* San *\\o/* " wrote: Well, we're going to Chicago for a casting consult. I pray this is an option for . Guest guest
Our appointment is the first one with Dr. Mehta on the 8th. I'm pretty sure she and Dr. Sturm will be capable.
