I think this should emphasize that we should buy raw milk only from those who milk cows specifically for raw milk. This woman and her husband were milking cows for the pasteurized market, meaning they didn't have to be that careful with cleanliness. Most farmers milking for the raw milk market are very fastidious.Additionally, we know nothing of the prior health or diet of her child or any other factors that may have contributed to his illness. For all we know, he had received a vaccination a few weeks prior, but given the timing of raw milk consumption and illness, the raw milk is immediately blamed. I'm not saying it wasn't the raw milk, but I'm not inclined to take heed of the warning of someone I don't know who milks her cows for the pasteurized market.Joannewww.joanneunleashed.comOn May 23, 2010, at 11:33 AM, rawDairy wrote:> My husband and I own and operate a dairy herd of 100 cows and ship our milk to Foremost Farms USA, in Baraboo.> > My son, who was 13 at the time, decided he wanted to try unpasteurized milk. He had never had it before. About a week later, he suddenly became very ill and had tremendous weakness and tingling in his arms and legs. The symptoms over the next couple of days started to intensify, and he experienced nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, severe cramping, fever of 105 degrees, headache and was delirious at times. The doctors were baffled as to what virus this was, and it didn't seem to respond to antibiotics or intravenous fluids.
