Guest guest
I know mold issues can exist ANYWHERE, but I've read posts where many mold victim's NEXT place of residence is an enclosed home, such as a condo or townhouse....with tile or wood floors and if patio, placing bricks on top of grassy areas to cover grass. Yes, the ac/heat vents need to be checked too....just my luck, if I bought another place that " seemed " mold free at time of inspection, and move in....a month or more down the road the same symptoms(along with chemical sensitivity) may develop all over again! Guess there simply are no guarantees. Guess it is better to RENT for the rest of my life! I am thankful that this Nightmare didn't start in my 20's, as I'm approaching 60. My heart " goes out " to all families with youngsters as victims of this trajedy!! You know the plo addage,......who would have ever believed something like this would have happened to me " .....so we have to just " deal " with it....sorry, but I'm in the paronoid stage of this issue now! Maybe over coming year, I'll seetle down and be able to offer help to another " newly stricken " soul....I think KC's " Ministry " on this board is one of strong compassion for his fellow man(women), and his wife deserves equal thanks for her partnership with KC!! Guest guest
One thing I can tell you that I didn't even consider in my last place, no mold but all the exhaust fans were by the windows. So dryer exhaust was always a problem along with shower exhaust. Many newer rental places have the vents by the windows. Something that they need to change. Who do you talk to about that. Anyway look around and see if it is like that where you live at the townhouses and apartments. From what I understand watch out for condos and thier crazy fees. I posted an article from my state yesterday where the residents have to come up with 50,000 to cover water damage to the building and some people just bought their place and never dreamed they would have to pay that large expense. That has happened in another condo in my county. Just make sure when you move you check out everything possible. I thought I had. --- In , " shybasset " <shybasset@...> wrote: > > I know mold issues can exist ANYWHERE, but I've read posts where many > mold victim's NEXT place of residence is an enclosed home, such as a > condo or townhouse....with tile or wood floors and if patio, placing > bricks on top of grassy areas to cover grass. Guest guest
I would say, avoid houses that are in valleys or on the side of hills.. And also avoid buildings with flat roofs.. There should be a global GIS (geographical) database of mold issues.. sort of like a community memory for people to tell their mold stories.. don't you think? Guest guest
Perhaps he means on one side it would be like being in a valley, rain water coming down onto house, i.e. best to have land sloping away on all side, although that threw me at first too. --- Bjerring <jamesbj@...> wrote: > * What's the matter with the side of a hill? > Thanks. > > >
