Hello to the group I hope you all are having a good day. Mandy Subject: Newbie!!! To: stillsdisease Date: Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 3:38 PM Hey Everyone!! Newbie here!! I would like to tell everyone about my self. My name is ,and I'm 21 years old from North Central West Virginia.I was just diagnosed with AOSD and Rhuematoid Arthritis on July 27,2008,so I am fresh so to speak lol.I'm very excited that I found this group, because like many people,I had never heard of AOSD or anything like it until July 25,2008 when my whole ordeal came along. Mine all really started on July 9,2008,when I started to notice a pinkish colored rash, and I had a sore throat,so the first doctor i went to,said it was just allergies and just sent me home.A couple day's later,I was spiking a fever up to 103.9 F,and then my rash would start to come out during or a few hours before my fever,so i went to another doctor, and they did a strep throat culture and it came back negative,so at this point in time,my sore throat was so sore,I could barely talk.A few more day's went on and it got to the point to where i was in pain, aching pain with no relief, and my knee's were stiff and very painfull, i could not even walk.Went to the emergancy room, and guess what?! the ER doctor said i had pharyngitis, sent me home again with no answers.Went one last time to another doctor, and they did a complete blood work up,and said that i probably had mono. All of this had gotten so bad, that i layed in my bed at home in severe pain to where i could not even lift my head, and couldn't eat anything but apple sauce for 16 day's,when i finally got that life saving phone call saying to get to a major hospital,my white blood cell count was extremely high.So of course i was scared out of my mind and was wondering what was going on,so my mom and her friend helped me out of my home and into my mom's car where she drove me to a major hospital. When i got to the ER,a couple nurses had to help me bend my knee's and move my leg's to get me out of the car,the ER doctors ran a bunch of test's,was admitted to their hospital, and had 3 other dr's trying to figure out what was going on,because at first, they thought i had Lupus.so to make a longgggg story short, 3 days later after many test's, a rhuematologist came in and said " i'm 99% positive you have Adult Onset Still's Disease with rhuematoid arthritis " I was BLOWN AWAY!!!!Since then i have been searching everywhere for more information on this disease, and support groupes, because i would like to know about other people with this disease, and how they do thing's in life, and just to see if someone has similiar thing's as my self. for my self,i try to stay positive as much as possible, but it's hard when nobody else know's what your going through, and you have no one to talk to about it.so here i am ready and willing to meet everyone on here and to hope we can all become friends ) Hope to hear back soon!!!
