Guest guest
I am very new to kombucha brewing and just started a few weeks ago with the help from this group. I started adding strawberries with a green tea KT. I read that I can add almost any fruit I wish, but I was wondering if there was any fruit or teas I should avoid. Also does anyone have any fruit/tea combos they would recommend. I am thinking of doing a green tea/strawberry/orange/ginger combo. I would like to thank everyone who posts. I read them often and they have helped me started KT brewing at home. -Ernie from New Mexico
Guest guest
Hi Ernie, Welcome to the wonderful world of Kombucha! Tea blends are a great way to customize your Kombucha flavor, though there are a couple of teas to avoid. Read my post about the best teas for Kombucha: http://www.kombuchakamp.com/2011/01/tea-and-kombucha-what-to-use-and-what-to-avo\ id.html As for fruit, the only one I would definitely stay away from is Grapefruit. Have yet to hear a good review. Otherwise, experiment at will and see what you like. I have a flavoring video here: http://www.kombuchakamp.com/2011/01/how-to-flavor-kombucha-mushroom-tea.html for tips on flavoring in the bottle and right in the glass. Also, you can vary your sugar types for different flavors too: http://www.kombuchakamp.com/2011/02/sugar-and-kombucha-faq-top-10.html Glad you are enjoying the process!
