I would recommend asking your surgeon that one, there are some things that you can do pre surgery like blood tests etc that you can do before hand and you can be booked in so that once your time is up waiting you can be banded the next day. There out of pocket things and they will vary, so it's a good idea to have that all sorted before hand - can't hurt can it?

I had to wait the 12 months out once I joined my health fund. It was tough, because once I made my mind up I wanted it then and there, as you do! Just do a little more research, read everything you can and relax about it. Once you are booked in and all set to go, things will happen in no time.
