Guest guest
I know one man whose brother gave him a part of his liver, but I don’t know if he had hcv or another problem with his liver. Both were doing very well last I heard, but I don’t go to those meetings anymore. Re: Re: HCV+ plus hypothyroid? By the way there was a television programme here in England recently about a 20-year old son who had donated part of his liver to his father who was dying from liver disease. It was successful apparently and they did not state what kind of liver disease was involved. Anything like this going on in the U.S. Mo
Guest guest
Yes, during tx, they checked my t-4 also. I’ll talk with my pcp before my next thyroid check about what else he is checking besides TSH. He usually just sends me a report that says Thyroid OK or not, without specifics. Re: HCV+ plus hypothyroid? Did you see my earlier post about the inadequacy of TST testing? Mo

Guest guest
s, during tx, they checked my t-4 also. I’ll talk with my pcp before my next thyroid check about what else he is checking besides TSH. He usually just sends me a report that says Thyroid OK or not, without specifics Checking the T4 only tells you how much of this storage thyroid hormone you have in your blood. In order for this T4 to get into your cells and have any effect, it first needs to be converted from T4 into T3 in your liver. And therein lies the potential for a problem because my T4 does not convert well because of the HCV, A full thyroid panel will give TWO antibody tests and these are essential for anyone with HCV as autoimmune antibodies are found with regularity in people with HCV. More info is required first. It is an interesting option though wouldn't you say? Mo

I noticed some posts about RA and this can be connected to hypoT also. Not everyone with HCV will develop hypoT obviously but the numbers are high enough to warrant a full investigation. Ditto RA. Guest guest
Hi, mari3jacks. I'm VickieG, aka: onelildeltagirl. I'm new to the group also. Just started treatment with my second shot of Pegasys July 3rd. Firt time to shot in the stomache. Ha! Well, I survived. It only took about 12 minutes to get the nerve up and find just the right spot. Ha! Ok, now I'm an old veteran at shots into the stomache and thigh. This answer is late because I have been away from the satelite. that's a side affect of traveling from TN, to MS to GA, etc. etc, etc. So far, only sides I am having are tiredness and some fever. Well, I do have a stiff back from staying in bed watching movies all day on the 5th. The bed in the boat in NOT comfortable and It will take weeks for me to get my back from hurting. Hugs to all. I too am new to the group as of this morning.I just completed my first month of pegasys. I know that hypothyroidism is a side effect of interferon and knock on wood I have yet to have any. I am not sure what adrenals are, can you explain?Glad to know that there is support out there, I too feel alone sometimes.
