Guest guest
Hello- A while back I wrote concerning a 24 hour eeg my son was scheduled to have. I want to thank all of you who encouraged me to have my son have the test. He had the test done in mid December and it came back as abnormal- but no sign of epilepsy. The neurologist seemed glad that Charlie didn't have epilepsy but had no other comment concerning the abnormal reading. We go back to the psychiatrist next week and hopefully I will be able to get more insight to the abnormal reading. The psychiatrist has been seeing charlie for 5 years and is easy to communicate with. Charlie was diagnosed 5+ years ago and is now 15. I have always thought that he has something else wrong besides the OCD and depression but his doctor always states that he wouldn't be able to function in school as well as he does (A work) if he had many of the disorders I bring up (bi-polar etc). Also, Charlie is able to control himself when he is not around people he is comfortable with. His Dr states that if he was bi=polar everyone would see it - not just his family. My question today is if any of you have ever dealt with behavior that seems to cycle back and forth all day long. Charlie can be perfectly normal for a while, then extremely silly and irritating, then verbally aggressive, then very sad and then very bored. It is exhausting for all of his family and I am sure it is tough on him. Some of the time he seems " out of it " - especially the times when he is silly or mean. I know that this doesn't fit the mold for OCD and, in fact, many of his obviuos OCD symptoms are held at bay with medicines. I guess my main question is if the abnoraml EEG and the " swings " we go through all day are related? I am not sure if any of you will have insight concerning this but I know I am asking the one group who might help. Thanks Jeanne __________________________________________________
