Guest guest
Hello all, Thanks to , who I met shopping in Perth over 2 years ago, and then again 2 weeks ago, I found that there is a scoliosis group. My name is Fisher and my son , who will be 16 in July, was diagnosed with infantile scoliosis, at the age of 6 months. He has spend his childhood in a brace, and at the age of 13, had a spinal fusion. He is fused from T1 down to L3. What a time we had, after the operation, he developed pneumonia, and was a sick child. Spent extra time in hospital recovering. Five months later, started to get back pain again. A CT scan showed that he had stress fractures at L5, he had to go back into hospital for another operation. Screwed and pinned. Another CT scan a few months later, showed one of the fractures was repairing itself, the other was not. So he will have more steel wear in his body for the rest of his life. He is now coping, after many frustrating times, mental problems, no physical sport or no physical work, ever again. I wish I had a group as this when he was little, and the jackets to keep the kids cool is fantastic. would love to meet kids like him, we know what you all are going through. And we wish you our love, it was hard for us, but we did survive. Life will be different for , but he is a very special kid, what a sense of humour! Regards, , Lance & Fisher
