If the concrete is allowing water in, mold will form under the hardwood, or

under the plastic if you use it. Ideally, plastic should be laid under the

concrete before it is poured, as I believe Carl recently stated.

To test your concrete, place a large sheet of clear plastic over as much of

your floor as you can easily cover. Tape the edges. Wait 2-3 weeks,

preferably until after some severe rain which saturates the ground. If

condensation forms under the plastic, the floor is not ideally suited for

hardwood. You might consider some breathable indoor-outdoor carpet, or tile

squares, with a narrow gap left between tiles to allow moisture to

evaporate.

SHOULD I USE A PLASTIC LINER THEN THE PLYWOOD SUBFLOORING FOLLOWED BY THE

WOOD ITSELF???
