Guest guest
hello, hope everyone had a wonderful christmas and looking into a wonderful new year. i need your help. i have been looking into painting my soaps. santa brought me some beutiful silicone molds that i am dying to paint. i have searched galore for soap paints. i have searched and majority of soap paints are acrylic. some are a vegetable base with color and preservative added. so now i just do not know what to use. i do know on one of my toiletries groups they had posted a recipe for your own soap paints. i thought it was this one but went to search archives and can not find it so again i am lost lol. now i played with one of my soaps and painted with ceramic paint which is washable it did a beutiful job so then i tested it in water the only bad part was it came off in water in particles that did not dissolve. for looks only, that would be good for soaps but to wash with u would not like those particles floating in the bathtub. well now i ask for your help for info and places that sell it or possibly a recipe to do it yourself. any info would be appreciated. i thank u so very much sue

Guest guest
Sue, I use Mica's to paint mine. I tried the soap paint but the results were unsatisfactory and the color palate was limited. With Mica's you can mix and match unlimited color combinations. The only thing that I use is Mica and Alcohol. The Alcohol will evaporate leaving behind beautiful color. I hope this helps you in your search. Guest guest
Hi all how did you get the mica to incorporate into the alcohol. The only thing I found was using glycerin made it smoother to blend and not clumpy. Are you doing it a special way. Guest guest
Hi Sue, Milky Way Molds also make soap paints. www.milkywaymolds.com I haven't tried them, but I thought they looked interesting when I came across them a couple of weeks ago. Here's what they say about them. Milky Way Soap Paints offer a safe, nontoxic way to dress up your soap bars. Each paint pot contains 1/2 oz. of natural, non-bleeding pigment in a vegetable base. The paints are 99% natural and 1% preservative. The colors last through several latherings and work with both cold-process and melt and pour soaps. Hope that helps,

Guest guest
Hi All I've learned just to paint the dry mica onto the soap with a paintbrush.
