Guest guest
Leaves Hello, I thought I would throw my two cents worth in on soap prices. I sell soaps and lotions to several different businesses and they always double the price I charge them. I sell my soap for $ 2.80 a bar and I really don't realize that much profit from them. People come in and see the soap marked at $ 5.60 a bar and not that many people buy. It took two years at least before it started selling well and now it's repeat business. They are 7 oz. bars so they are pretty good sized but I just can't seem to get the price much lower than that, yet I see other soaps out there retailing for $ 2.50 to $ 3.00 per bar. I have several times come close to quitting on the soap and just selling lotions because they do so well, then I always hear from someone telling me they wouldn't be able to find the quality anywhere else and it inspires me to keep plugging away at it. I would say there are very different levels of competition and very different levels of quality. From just my own personal experience, the people that buy my soaps are now understanding the different levels of quality and that seems to help. I even get asked at Christmas time to custom make bars for people and they are willing to pay alot more when it's for gifts. But I have to admit, when I see those low priced bars out there and they are sitting next to mine on a shelf, to an average consumer it would look like one was just way over priced. Yet I have tried many times to make a really good bar for less money and I am personally never satisfied with the way they come out. The end results on the skin are just never as satisfying. Thanks for letting me chime in,
