Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I didn't realize it's been so long since I have posted. Hope everyone had a happy holiday--Best Wishes for a Happy New Year. Mike came home from the hospital almost 2 weeks ago. Moods very stable--almost a new kid. One major thing I think helped was they stopped his stimulant med (for ADHD). I will take a spacey impulsive kid over the manic violent or depressed suicidal one. And he finally has normal thyroid function on his present dose thyroid med. Now in a partial hospitalization program. Christmas was ok, until the end of the day when he had an 'ocd fit' at my moms. Something about a pan being contaiminated, and then my dad...still haven't figured it out. So we came home-he was in bed asleep by 8pm. Having trouble with 'perfectionism'; could not sign his Christmas cards for family--it would take too long to do it right. So if he continues to be stable, 12 days so far, we will return for ERP after the first of the year. I hope that 2002 brings recovery, peace, and serinity to our kids and families. Guest guest
HI : Thanks for the heart-warming update on Mike. You both are amazing how you have handled such a challenging experience with such grace and valor!! I wish Mike every success with his E & RP. As you know I am a dedicated supporter of E & RP after seeing what it has done for our son, Steve. He is now in high school and just turned 15. Other than obsessing a lot about being classified " at risk " he is doing very well and living with great good humor. Please keep us posted about Mike's progress. Take care, aloha, kathy (h) kathyh@... > Hi, > It has been 13 weeks since Mike was suspended from school because of his mania. After 6 weeks of in patient treatment, 4 weeks of partial hospitalization, and 3 weeks of partial care (intensive outpatient) he was discharged today! It has been a long haul. Of course since he started homebound last week his ocd has to be a little more noticeable. But I think that is workable...will start back with ocd treatment in the next month or so. We are taking things very slow. He has been stable with his bipolar since 12-18 and still going strong...There is light at the end of the tunnel! (and it is not another train coming back at me this time!!! . Thanks for all the support. Hugs, in NJ
