Guest guest
Most bases have water in them so you can't use it in a lotion bar because it will not mix with the bees wax. If there is not water in the base then it might work. What are you looking to achieve? Guest guest
I am trying to achieve a lotion bar with aloe vera in it. Early on, I didn't have a problem with adding the aloe vera in liquid form; but, within the last 6 months when I tried adding it, it " spit at me. " I have used the concentrate in regular lotion(because it has distilled water as part of the ingredients list. I am making a lotion bar as we " speak " , and so far no problem; however, I just used a pinch. I'm counting on the bar not being gritty/grainy (sp?) but we'll see.... Guest guest
Yes, I am. The lotion bars that I made last night are perfect. I just added 2 pinches to my recipe. Guest guest
Terry, The aloe vera powder is water soluble. I don't see it dissolving in oil. Perhaps using an emulsifier that would work in soap, perhaps? Just though I would toss my 2 cents in. Kindest regards, Markey :-) www.gardenofwisdom.com/cosmeticrawmaterials.htm *snippet* > > In the directions that I have for aloe vera concentrate, it states to mix the concentrate with water. This is fine for lotions which have distilled water, but I want to use it in lotion bars (which contain no water). Guest guest
Thanks for your input. I tried to dissolve the aloe in the oils and the first batch worked but the second one didn't. Guest guest
2 pinches of the aloe vera concentrate into the oils and butters for the lotion bars--emu, shea, coconut oil and sweet almond oil. Guest guest
Depending on the size of the recipe I would not think that two pinches of anything would do much good. I love emu and shea but have never been a follower of coconut oil in a skin application. To me sweet almond oil feels very drying so I don't use it either. I really love medowfoam and evening primrose and would use these in place of the other two. I have made lotion bars and cream with the shealoe and I really like the feel of it. Have you tried using IPM in there too. It will give you a better absorption and a very nice after feel. Guest guest
I have a question about Emu oil. I haven't used it because of 2 reasons: it's very expensive, plus, I hear that the birds are destroyed - nice way of saying killed, I think? - for their oil? Is that true? Are the birds killed for their oil? > > >> lotion bars--emu, shea, coconut oil and sweet almond oil. > > Terry >

Guest guest
The meat is the main product of the emu but they don't waste anything. Even the feathers are used. Guest guest
are you a vegetarian? Me I look at it this way, what happens to animals that don't have an economic value in our world. Extinction comes to mind. If no one ate meat do you think people would keep cows and pigs as pets? Chris Re: Aloe Vera concentrate > > > > > > > > I have a question about Emu oil.
