Guest guest
I think I'll stick to soyburgers, but thank you anyway. <sigh> How do people work out the amount of preservative to use in creams and lotions? I hope that makes sense!! but you can't do it unless you know the specific gravity. well... sometimes we don't KNOW the sg... so we have to measure. very carefully... This has been driving me nuts for >years. > and back again... This can/does make me nuts too. we sell by volume. some of our sources sell by volume, some by weight. and then there's those who sell by the lb, or by the kilo... So... You NEED to know the specific gravity of the item... how much it weighs relative to water. for water... one gram = one milliliter... or one kilogram = one liter. OKAY... our English Chamomile has a specific gravity of 0.9. (lighter than water.) one kilo of that oil has how many ounces by volume???? the math equation is.... ml = grams / specific gravity. 1 kilo (1000 grams) = 1000/0.9 = 1.111 liters... (and then I do the liter to ounce conversion.) but it all depends on my knowing the specific gravity of the substance. to calculate how many grams if you know how many ml... (ie, to find the weight of a specific volume of stuff) the formula is: grams = ml X specific gravity. so if I have one liter of the English Cham... it will be 1000X.09 = 900 grams.
