Hi,

Does anyone know of good resources in the S.F. Bay Area (on the peninsula,

and near Stanford but other than Stanford itself).

We are looking for a whole array of resources: a half-day intensive program

for teens would be great, but doesn't to my knowledge exist; a good cognitive

behavioral therapist who does exposure response; a person who can help our

family create some structure that supports the OCD progress and keeps it from

reappearing; school resources; and ideas of what might be included in an IEP,

including the mental health resources which the County must provide, which

would be helpful.

Our daughter is 16, and is now at a truly terrific intensive OCD-only

residential (short term) program for teens (14-18 years old) at Menninger's

in Kansas, but will be returning home soon.

Thanks,

I believe there is an OCD support group in the peninsula area that the OCD

foundations web site listed, the members might be a good resourse. We also

hired a child advocate[we live in the east bay] who attended the IEP with us

and knew the right things to ask for. One thing she asked for was approval of

an AB 3632 school based program. This provides individual and family

counseling as well as several other services. Ours was Contra CostaCounty

Mental health services . The reason we wanted it was because it covers our

daughter who is 7 and in 1st grade until she graduates from high school. If

she needs residential or special day schooling, it is paid for by the county.

The counseling does not specialize in OCD so we were not interested in those

services.Maybe our advocate may know one in your area if you are interested i

will give you the phone number. a Cronin
