Guest guest
What are these used for? Like sachets? Lots of fo or eo used for lots of pew? Are they popular? I tried making these things called " sweetie cakes " or " bath cookies " that called for eggs & baking soda, and cornstarch, and epsom salts, and then baked ----LOL they puffed up like a merangue (sp) and when cooled and popped in the sink full of water for a test, they just sank to the bottom sat there like little I-don't-know-whats, and slowly got gooey, then when swished, they looked like - i dunno - like somebody had put bread in there. I tried two batches, and they both left me shaking my head wondering why on earth anybody would want to put those in their tubs.... Anybody know what I'm talking about, and had a better experience? Scent stones sound like ALOT better idea! And if has done it and liked it, I bet it's good. I still love my felted soap, even tho nobody is buying it. (guess what my friends and family are getting for xmas this year? Soap felting kits!!!! Cool, huh?) > > Hi , here you are : > Fragrance stones.... > 1 & 1/2 cup flour > 1/4 cup salt > 1/4 tsp cornstarch > 2/3 cup water > FO or EO > colour > > Mix it all up and make little stone shape. Guest guest
I totally agree with you on the bath cookies; I don't know how that one got started, but it is just plain gross! Guest guest
Hi, Fragrance Stones are used for making things smell nice . Guest guest
Hi Terry. Fragrance Stones are really nice and so easy and cheap to make. Place them in drawers and closets, cars and even inside shoes and it gives a lovely smell. You can use EO's or FO's and the smell stays for ages. I package them in little bags of 7 stones ( lucky number ), tie up with a pretty ribbon and put in a note to say how to use them. They are well worth making. I sell them for $ 2.50 per bag. hope this helps, Hugs, . Guest guest
, Would I be able to dry the fragrance stones faster in the oven at a low, low setting? I want these ready by Sun. a.m. around 6 a.m.., and it's now 11:15 a.m. Or would there be a problem doing this. I really like the way they turned out! Thanks for your input. Terry P.S. I don't know if I'm supposed to reply through toiletries or you directly, so I'm doing both Re: FRAGRANCE Stones > > >> , would these go well in those nylon drawstring pouches? Guest guest
Hi Terry, I am sure that replying via the list is fine...Right guys ? Yes, you can put them in the oven. I think that if you put it on a low setting and left the oven door open, should do the trick. I am so happy that they turned out well for you. They are so easy to make arn't they ? What smellie did you use ? Please post a pickie OK ? hugs and blessings, . Re: Re: FRAGRANCE Stones > , > > Would I be able to dry the fragrance stones faster in the oven at a low, low > setting? Guest guest
, Thanks for the info. I used Bay Rum fragrance for the men and Romance+combined with 2 other scents for the women. I'll be making more today and will put them in the oven--this time I will bake the scented " stones " separately--they tended to blend when they were all in the oven together--don't make that mistake. Guest guest
I just tried the " bath cookies " and I got the same results...they just busted up into little peices but never really dissolved. I tried the whirlpool tub and that got them to dissolve but I don't really like doing that. I was wondering why on earth anyone would like or make those either! It took me so long to make them that I dare not try them again! Carol tried making these things called " sweetie cakes " or " bath cookies " that called for eggs & baking soda, and cornstarch, and epsom salts, and then baked ----LOL they puffed up like a merangue (sp) and when cooled and popped in the sink full of water for a test, they just sank to the bottom sat there like little I-don't-know-whats, and slowly got gooey, then when swished, they looked like - i dunno - like somebody had put bread in there. Anybody know what I'm talking > about, and had a better experience? The so-called " Bath Cookie " recipe is a waste of time and money as you have found out, unfortunately. It makes a dough that is baked to give the illusion of an actual cookie, but when added to the water, they turn into blobs of soggy dough that are a pain to clean out of the tub. :-Þ A better idea might be to use one of the " bath bomb " recipes found in the Toiletries Library (the link is at the bottom of this email) and roll the dough flat and cut into round shapes. Let dry and decorate with candy sprinkles, melted and colored cocoa butter to simulate icing, etc. These will be fragile, but will dissolve in the tub. > Scent stones sound like ALOT better idea! And if has done it > and liked it, I bet it's good. I still love my felted soap, even tho > nobody is buying it. (guess what my friends and family are getting > for xmas this year? Soap felting kits!!!! Cool, huh?) I have also seen the stones made with plaster of paris that had been colored and scented before pouring into molds to harden. Another way is to soak water softener pellets in a mixture of fragrance oil, dye and alcohol for several weeks until penetrated with fragrance. Remove from the liquid and dry completely on screens (paper towels will soak up too much of the scent/color). These can then be used in sachets, as simmering potpourri, in the tub, etc. Hope this helps...good luck! :-) Cat
