Guest guest
I forgot what was said regarding the lab analysis that is sent off for the Home Depo mold plate, if it identifies the mold type, or just the count, or both? Guest guest
Lori, Thank you. I think for now I will purchase the ones from Home Depo. However, I will do the search and keep looking. Some of my clothes that I washed and put away in a cabinet a number of months ago when it was cooler- smell musty now. I do not know if this is normal or not, since I no longer know what is normal in these situations, except for what the norm is for us! Hopefully, some inexpensive testing will help me to determine whether there is a problem starting, or not. They haven't cashed my check yet so I'm a bit worried that it got lost or something. Guess maybe I should have gotten some type of delivery confirmation. It says on their info that the lab analysis will identify the genus of mold present -- so that sounds like they will give you the genus but not down to the species level. The test costs $30 and for express analystis, within 72 hours, you must ship it express with DHL or Fed Ex or similar and pay $45 for the test. They also have these tests available online different places, I found one place where they were cheaper than 10 bucks, at least before the shipping. If you do a search for Pro-Lab mold or something you can find it. Lori

Guest guest
, both count and type but Pro Lab does not identify down to the species which I think is enough for most uses. --- bobbinsbiomed@... wrote: > I forgot what was said regarding the lab > analysis that is sent off for the > Home Depo mold plate, if it identifies the mold > type, or just the count, or > both? > > > >
Guest guest
Lori, you could call ProLab and ask it they have received them. They do not send a notice upon receipt. --- Lori Baur <lori@...> wrote: > , > > I sent mine off but it takes two weeks or so > unless you pay for express testing. Guest guest
Leigh, Dallas clinic gave me down to species. I would love to do a side-by-side test with ProLab and Dallas to see if they are at least 'similar' in results. Maybe some day I will on one and maybe another source. --- Leigh McCall-Alton <mccallalton@...> wrote: > barb--Did the ones from EHF go into detail? > thank you. Guest guest
Barb, Thanks, I will try Pro Lab. I found the website for this so if I can't find them in the stores I will order them. Guest guest
I have conducted this experiment with samples sealed in mason jars for one year. The test results came back from " ProLab " with an exact match of the professional tests I had done in the home a year earlier as far as species. This was also proof to me that even a dead or dormant mold will come back to life instantly if given the proper environment, even after a year of being sealed. Guest guest
Thanks Chris. It will save me the time. I think Pro Lab are okay for certain things. They just don't give you the info down to the species that could be important in some situations but not mine right now anyway. They give me a count of 'aspergillus' but not say it if niger or flavus etc. Sometime they may id a mold wrong (??), but I'm just seeking a count anyway. In enough quanitity any mold will make you sick and tells you how healthy the house is. If you are growing lots of mold of any kind, if you don't find and correct the problem, it's a breeding ground for toxic mold if you don't already have it. More toxic mold could 'move in' day after your test if you have conditions that are growing mold. --- Tazin Round <unitedstatesvet@...> wrote: > I have conducted this experiment with samples > sealed in mason jars for one year. Guest guest
, if you want them all identified, a four pack from Environmental Clinic of Dallas is better deal, 4 for 100.00, single ones are 29.99 which includes testing. I buy the Home Depot frequently just to get a count. For 9.95 I get get a count of number of spores. However if I get alot of spores, I can't count them since it gets crowded, but then I don't know how moldy a condition you are testing. If you think conditions are moldy, you could test for only a half hour and figure double. Dallas plates tell you to just expose them for half an hour. Home Depot say to expose them for an hour. However you can expose Home Depot for half an hour I BELIEVE and double figure for a count per hour. I read 4-5 an hour is considered good air quality from a number of sources. --- bobbinsbiomed@... wrote: > > Barb, > Thanks, I will try Pro Lab.
