HTH Sandy Aromatic oils Hi all I am a newbie to the group and have been mostly lurking and reading past messages, my name is and I live in Australia. Can someone tell me what aromatic oils are, some say they are EO's and some say they are FO's, could they be a combination of both? Guest guest
If I were to read a recipe that included aromatic oils as an ingredient, I would assume that they meant essential oils, but more likely they mean either essential or fragrance. Guest guest
Thankyou for answering, I know what essential oils are and I know what fragrant oils are but I don't know what aromatic oils are. **, I think I may be able to help you. Aromatic oils can be used to describe all of the above, but I use the term to describe plain (or carrier) oils that have been infused with botanicals to create a scented oil. For example, I make an oil using olive oil and I add plantain to it at a very low heat for about an hour. The scent and the properties of the plantain are there but I then remove the plant matter. This is an effective way to get scented oils (with some of the properties in a diluted dose) without the expensive price. They are somewhat inferior to essential oils but sometimes these aromatic oils are called for in a product where it would be impractical to use an EO. And if you've ever used garlic oil in cooking then you know how divine they can be. HTH, Tsoumbakos www.earthsgoddess.com
