Guest guest
Hi friends, I need some advice please. As you know, I know very little about essential oils, that is why I mostly use FO's in my soaps and lotions etc. Well..the most extraordinary thing happened this morning ! A lady that I know who is an Aromatherapist came to see me. She told me that she was giving up the business and wanted me to have all her essential oils ! Then she promptly dumped them all my dining table, kissed me on the cheek and left! Now, these oils are all in 5 kg, unopened bottles and from a very reputable and expensive company called Aroma, here in Australia. ! Can I use these essential oils in soap and lotions please.? Here is the list: Basil, Clary Sage Marjoram Rosewood Thyme Hyssop Wintergreen Bergamot Juniperberry Cinnamon Clove Nutmeg Camphor white Sweet Fennel Aniseed Cajeput I don't even know what some of these are.......... and one heavenly 5 kg unopened bottle of Patchouli FO. and 200 new 25 ml essential oil bottles !!!!!! If I can't use them in soaps and lotions, please, please tell me............ what can I use them for ? Hugs and blessings, .

Guest guest
Some people get qtips, and put a drop of eo on them into plasic baggies and let them blend for a bit, to see what the combinations will smell like. I use a mix of Peppermint/Thyme when every I have a cold (in the diffuser) - it's awesome, I think Camphor would also work for that (but strong) - I would imagine champor in a hot salve for arthritus, but it would also work for colds, it's in Vicks Vaporub (if they still make it) Pachoili is a wonderful skin oil, good for chapped skin down to exzema. I HATE the smell, so I usually combine it with something else. Is there anyone out there who actually likes the smell of pachouli? Guest guest
Hi Rosemary..you are right ! LOL Some of these don't smell so nice ! I am a little bit scared of EO's, that is why I always use FO's. You know, some of them being toxic if used on the skin. I think I will just put them away for a while and think about it. hugs and blessings, . Like how many drops of each??? It really depends on your vendor and how much you like pachouli. I do one and one, for creams, but the lavender takes over the pachouli. This is a very strong Lavender (Lavender Austfolia) rather then the lavender 40/42 I use for soap. I get the icky smelling pachoili from the same vendor, as I trust her oils and know that these oils will actually do something. Her lavender is so strong, that there's only a hint of the pachouli. But at least it's in there and it's a very good skin oil. It's not the beautiful pachouli that I use for my soaps. Get samples and recommendations. Then experiment with them. Guest guest
, The leaf is a bit less caustic, and smells wonderful mixed with... Patchouli. Cunningham called that blend " Come See Me Oil " in his Incense, Oils, and Brews book. But I'm always very leery of the cinnamon. Once an employee accidentally got some of the leaf oil on her hands while pouring. She put her hands on her face without washing them, and you could see her hand prints very clearly on her face - a slight burn. Mixing it with a little orange oil, and soaking some rosehips in the blend makes for a great holiday potpourri gift, though.
