Guest guest
One great vegetarian lie is that ìplant proteins equal animal proteinsî. This is just not true. If it were true then vegetarians would not be suffering from ìcachexiaî and other negative protein balance problems as their body tries to ìrobî its own organs and tissues to maintain protein balance. Strict vegetarians are losing their own bodyís protein since protein must be maintained in the blood ìat all costsî. Plasma proteins help to maintain osmotic balance, which means that fluids are balanced between the blood, the cells and the extra-cellular fluid (ECF). Therefore, proteins are maintained in the blood at all costs since their function is so vital to life. Loomis states, ìBecause these proteins are critical for the maintenance of homeostasis they must be maintained in the blood at all costs.î ìAt all costsî means that the body will rob from its own tissues to maintain homeostasis in the blood. Cachexia results as protein is pulled from the ìless valuableî organs and tissues... Guest guest
Bubba, You accept Dr. Mecola as authority, that's your privilege. (lol) that's what you said to me about Dr. D'adamo! I don't believe everything I read, I at least research it and even experiment with it first before I make a opinion on it. I need more then theories, I am eating close to Vegetarian with the guidance (books) of Dr. D'adamo, I feel really wonderful since I have done further testing and was able to fine tune my diet even more. We are all individuals and what is good for one is not the case for all. My point is I am my own guinea pig, one size does not fit all! Ps. on this list someone posted that ( I think Nina Silver) according to microscopist/microbiologist O. Young, broccoli, carrots and a very few other vegetables have COMPLETE PROTEINS, or all the amino acids. very interesting! Guest guest
Hi Laurie, You are right in that some people can last longer than others on a particular treatment. The below excerpt was from Mercola's column but was not Mercola's writing. It was from a very qualified Dr. How a food makes us feel is not a good measure of it's health giving properties. I myself feel really super if I eat a quart of icecream a day. I hope nobody thinks that is anything but harmful. The man states that plant protein is not the same as animal protein. The full article is at: http://www.mercola.com/1999/dec/26/truth_about_salt.htm Bubba --- " Laurie K. Probably because of the fat content slowing its entrance to the bloodstream. Pearson & Shaw pointed that out back in the seventies " Life Extension " . They convinced a Gym owner that it would not increase fat on body builder, he tried it and had to agree. Ain't life a kick??? Chuck Never let your schooling interfere with your education!
