Guest guest
Can someone explain the concept and practical technique of periodisation to me? I've been stuck on my bench press for an extremely long time, and think a new type of training--such as periodisation--is the answer. [Periodisation is not really a new type of training, but just a scheme for alternating or cycling the intensity and volume of short, middle and long term training so as to produce one's best performances at specific times, most commonly to coincide with competitions. Our archives contain a fair amount of information on this topic and Ch 6 of Supertraining, as well as many of the standard strength texts (written by authors such as Bompa, Fleck and Kramer), provides great detail on this topic.
