Guest guest
I have both a laser and an inkjet. Both of them are ancient, but I'll use them until I run them into the ground. I think there is a direct correlation between wanting them to die so you can upgrade and them turning into the energizer bunnies. In terms of speed and quality, the laser wins hands down every time. Unfortunately it only prints in black. So I have to use the ink jet for all color. I can't wait till I am rich enough to afford a color laser, it's the way I would go if I could. In the meantime I use the glossy water resistant labels, they're also called photo quality. I don't have any spotting with water, oil or even alcohol, but if they stay in the shower for a while the paper kind of swells and makes them look unprofessional. Nobody complains because they know everything is handmade, but I don't want it to look kludged like that. I'd like my products to stay beautiful throughout their use. I laminate anything that's going in the shower, but that's a PITA. I'm hoping that I'll like the performance of the vinyl labels well enough to go back to cutting the labels out of full sheets. Of course that eliminates circles and ovals, and I do like those shapes. As you can tell, I'm one of those people who wants it ALL, lol! BTW, I think I'm going to do a buy on the inkjet labels I use, if anyone is interested in joining contact me off list and I'll add your name to the list. Heidi http://www.heidisherbals.com Re: Re: Epson C64 & C82 Printers Hey , can you ask your hubby about laser vs. inkjet on quality of the final print. I'm negotiating with a label company and the subject came up and this guy said that if I continue to print my own labels for awhile that I was better off from a graphic standpoint with an inkjet, but for quickness get a laser ....doesn't mean he knew what he was talking about....but it does sound like your " techno geek " might (that's tooo cute). If I do continue to do my own labels I will definately need to go smudgeproof and waterproof real soon. Do okay on the smudgeproof, but when lotion or water gets on a label it can leave a spot. I'd appreciate any thoughts. Sorry if you've already covered all this...still catching up! Guest guest
Hi Heidi, You wrote that circles & ovals are not possible with the waterproof vinyl labels you're using because you have to cut them out yourself. I don't know the style of your label, but I wanted to mention that I do circles all of the time for my scrubs w/the 8.5 x 11 label sheet. I don't use any fancy programs... just Microsoft Word. I use the Auto Shapes at the bottom to create my circle & fill in my text. I am also able to fill in background color, but that is certainly optional. The outline allows me to cut my circle perfectly, although, I sometimes use " funky " scissors that have an irregular cut (I don't know what they're called, but they're the same kind as Creative Memories). Have you had a chance to test the waterproof labels? I hope that they will save you some time in your production process. Guest guest
Do the labels you mention come in small circular? At Staples, all I ever see is full sheet, so you must buy online? >In the meantime I use the glossy water resistant labels, they're also called photo quality.
