A mother of a student at Gadsden Elementary School called us with

concerns about her child's health.

The school is located on may street.

School leaders wasted no time reacting to her concerns, right?

Mold is a fungus.

It's not unusual in our area, but can be a problem if your child is

sensitive to it.

That's the case with one student at Gadsden Elementary.

The first grader has classes in one of these portable classrooms,

and was treated several times for an allergic reaction to mold.

School leaders have since moved that student to a different

classroom, bleached the portable areas, and removed the carpeting.

District officials... telling NEWS 3...

" Test samples were sent off to determine what it was, and if it

really was mold, what type it was. Tile has been put back into the

portable.

That should eliminate the danger in the future. "

Additional air sample tests are set for Thursday or Friday.
