Guest guest
I actually read an interview where Louie was beating up on bodybuilders because of their stacking and use of excessive amounts of steroids. His position was that he had used for many years (27) I believe he said without cycling off by using small amounts of injectable testosterone (Sustanon), I believe. He was very honest and actually seemed to say more against the use of steroids (at least large amounts) than he did for them. There is a lot of misinformation out there about steroid use. I have never really associated with bodybuilders but amongst strength lifters I believe the benefits for strength are exaggerated usually by people who do not lift as much and are jealous. [believe those athletes and lifters who use AAS (steroids) - they really can make a huge difference to both strength and hypertrophy. Many athletes will not even gain much muscle bulk and they will still increase their strength remarkably on AAS - even by using fairly small clinical doses of these drugs (as little as 10-15mg of bol or Winstrol a day for cycles of a few weeks). Mel Siff] I have always been quite proud of looking normal and being able to outlift those folks on different performance enhancing drugs. Also it is my experience that steroid use seems to benefit certain lifts more than others, probably because of the different leverages that come from the water weight gain. Dr. Mel maybe you can explain that one. At any rate guys whom I know who used usually were big squatters or benchers. The help to the deadlift seemed to be minimal but that is just my take. Anyway, I believe Louie when he says something. I believe he is more honest and outspoken than most world class athletes and trainers. And I agree with the post about being accused of using. I would regard that as a compliment. The one with Testosterone says he'd used Equipose for 27 years; however, as I recall that was without disruption, not cycling. The photo of on his website is certainly impressive. If your source is other than T-mag, please advise. Being unimaginative, I'm curious how he's been able to secure veteniary testosterone on a constant basis. For a guy in his fifties, he's an interesting role model for sustaining power and doing testosterone replacement therapy at one and the same time. Guest guest
Ken, I am sure we are talking about the same interview or interviews. It has been a long time since I read what he had to say but I am sure he said he had used an injectable testosterone in small quantities for 27 years without cycling off. I thought it was Sustenon but Equipose is probably right. I also doubt Louie gets his stuff from a veterinarian, since at his age he is probably able to get it from a legitimate source. Louie is what he is. I do not agree with his stance on steroids but I respect his honesty. I also respect his innovative thoughts on powerlifting training. I don't think he is trying to be a role model. In fact I am quite sure that Louie does not care where you or I agree with him or not. I happen to like him, although I probably would not want him to train my kids at least until they were adults and are less impressionable. I also think Louie is a freak of nature kind of like Dr Mel. I don't think us normal people have bodies that function like that. One thing I would say is that I am 52 and I have won a lot of drug free powerlifting championships without the use of any drugs. I am healthy and feel good and so I think lifting drug free is the way to go. I am in no way thumbing my nose at those who choose another route however. Guest guest
Hi Eddie: Grateful thanks for your informative reply. I'm with you about Louie ; paradoxically, I'd add Vince Gironda to the list. Both produce results and are creatively brilliant in their own way. Since the posts of a week ago, I've read all the stuff available on the web. What a refreshing approach. Not saying he's right or wrong since such ideas have nothing to do with my outlook. His methods sure do have useful outcomes. thanks Ken O'Neill Tucson, Arizona Ken, I am sure we are talking about the same interview or interviews.
