I don't know for sure, it hasn't happened me (YET) but your soap may have

seized. Some FO and EO will cause that. Kathy has a site with a section

on reclaiming soap, you may need to look there. I am sending what I have

saved, hope it goes through. R

I would appreciate any input on this :)- I've only had

this happen to me once a few years back - but I was

experimenting with making milk soaps at that time.

Hi Pat, your soap has " seized " . This happens when a Fragrance Oil, reacts

badly with the soap (mostly CP soap) - it's a really good idea to get

references from other soapers, for a fragrance you want to try. Or ask your

vendor

if the fragrance has been tested in CP soap.

I would flip when that happend to me, but I have a dollar basket and can cut

it up and sell it in there. Im pretty sure most of the vendors out there

now, test their FO's in CP soap.

Another trick you can try, it to heat up the fragrance a little bit with

some castor oil, before you add it to the soap. Then handstir it, rather then

use a stick blender.

It's perfectly good soap, it's just ugly. I hate seized soap, and now won't

buy a frangrance unless someone says it goes in perfectly, either the vendor

or another soaper who's used it.

It sounds like the FO " curdled " the batch. The soap should be fine ... it may be

a little " aesthetically challenged, " but should still be a great soap.

Mixing your FO will a little bit of slightly warmed oil before adding it to the

batch may help. (If you superfat at trace, warm your superfatting oils and blend

it with those.) Blending at a slightly lower temp may also help.

Let us know how it turns out! Good luck and have fun! :)
