Hi All,

Kylie finished her Halo traction #4, went into a Halo

brace, and came home on Feb. 23rd. I posted some

photo's in her photo album of the Halo brace and some

neck x-rays before and after Halo, if interested.

About 1 1/2 weeks ago I noticed that her left VEPTR

looked like it was working it's way off. We learned

that they both were and the reason for that was that

her neck was back to the same way it was before Halo

#4. Her neck some how found a way, even in a Halo

brace. She will check back into Shriner's today to

have the brace removed and the weights back on. Halo

traction #5! She will hang in traction for 4 weeks,

then on April 24th, she has no other option but to

undergo a partial fusion, C7 to T5, of the kyphosis

that keeps collapsing. They will keep her VEPTR in to

control the rest of the spine and to allow growth. She

will wear the Halo brace again 'til the fusion has

healed, then go into a brace with neck support to

prevent or slow down any new curves that will try to

develope into the neck.

We can honestly say, we have done everything to put

off getting to this point. Kylie is 9 yrs. old, and I

think her doctor has done a damn good job getting her

here! He has never given up and neither have we!

Kylie has done it all, she has done thing that have

never been done before for kyphoscoliosis. She is

still very possitive about everthing and is very, very

excited to have Halo #5.

I will let you all know how she is doing, a bit sooner

than in the past.

Take care,

So sorry to hear that even the halo brace didn't working. Like I said

before that spine has a mind of it’s own, hopefully the fusion will hold it

in place.

I think after all this is all done and I mean all done when her spine is

finally stabilize you guys deserve a major trip or something just to have

fun and not have any worries.

Just an idea. Lol

Kylie is one of kind, and so are you. No one else on the planet could deal with

5 halos...You have stood by her side throughout it all. Many wouldnt make the

decisions or sacrifices you have made to prolong the inevitable, fusion. You,

your family, and Kylies doc have done an unbelievable job in getting her to the

size she is! Not, to mention the outlook she has on life! Its amazing, and we

could all learn a lesson from her. I know that her doc has done his best, and I

know that you trust him, wholeheartedly. He knows that this is the next step,

and that its in her best interest.

You are an amazing mom, .

I am so glad that we were able to spend time together. You guys make our visits

so much easier!

Love.

Your sweet family needs a vacation once Kylie is all settled!!! You guys have

been through so much. I just couldn't applaude you enough for your

determination to do whatever it takes for your girl. You are a wonderful Mom.

I will be praying the halo application and these next four weeks go well. April

24th is marked on my calendar. Kylie is obviously a remarkable girl. I hope we

can all meet someday. I also hope all that has happened with her can better

prepare her doctors for any other kids they might meet with similar challenges.

Please keep us updated on everything.
