Guest guest Posted August 24, 2004 Report Share Posted August 24, 2004 Hi If you make carrot soap without eo/fo it just smells like unscented soap.. sorry Fiona I made a " Fresh Carrot and Ginger " Soap, with carrot puree and Ginger FO from MMS. It was awesome (but only to me) didn't sell all that much, it sure did clear up my skin though. Beta Carotene turns into Vit A. I added a bit of Shea Butter, to make it even more awesome. I infused the soaping oils with carrot puree for 5 hours in a crockpot to get a stronger shade of orange. I mix this in a lotion for myself too and often have " total strangers " walk up behind me and rave over the scent. 20 drops of Patch, 20 drops of Sandalwood FO or if using sandalwood EO 5 drops, 5 drops of Carrot Seed. Mix it and let it meld for a couple of days. That is for a cup of product(lotion). For the soap I use the same ratio of oils and in a 3 lb batch(HP only for this one) about an ounce and a half mixed in with the carrots at the end of the cook. I did a demo of this soap at our last NM soapers meet and even the young ones loved the finished product. And, no we don't charge any more for this soap than any other one we do. Now, did you do this in cp soap? Ya know how ugly poor lavender gets when heated? How does chamomile hold up in cp? Does it stay pretty? I know, cham eo is expensive. But some people like to spend alot of money on things, or they dont think they're getting a superior product. Most of my stuff is reasonable price-wise, but I think a few big ticket items would attract a few types. Like, have you been into a Lush store???????? Geeeeeezzzzz!!!!And as you say, as gifts, what could be better? I suppose I should have warmed it up a bit in castor oil and handstirred it, but didn't. It ended up in my dollar basket. LOL Deonia ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Deonia, I'm MJ's sister and when she first did the lotion with patch, sandalwood, and carrot eos, I wasn't sure I liked it at all. Now that's ALL that I use. After all this discussion of the carrot soap, I guess I'll have to give up the lavender/ylang oatmeal soap I normally use and use a bar of the carrot soap for a while.
