Hello, Group! Anyone out there tell me why all of my soap is a shade of

brown; I don't mean milk soap. for example, I made an infusion of rose petals,

nice shade of red. I had the rose " tea " chilled, but when I added the lye,

Bingo! Brown. I know if I used water to make the soap, then used my " tea " as

liquid and rebatched it, it would have stayed red. I don't like rebatching! Am

I

forever doomed to produce brown soap if I use anything but plain water??

Also, as long as I am stuck with brown for now, has anyone used coconut milk to

make CP? R.

There ya go, brown rose petals, it happens everytime. Lavender turns into

dead bugs in soap, lovely rose will make soap brown (all soap) - Calendula

stayes yellow, and I'm not sure but Sunflower MIGHT also stay yellow.

Roses will turn brown in soap (omg, this was my very first dilema, it takes

me back)

I can't answer your turning brown questions because I have never used

a tea to make soap. I do, however, use coconut milk all of the time.

I think it adds more to the creaminess & bubbles & unlike regular

milks, it does not burn when you use it at 100%. I measure mine out &

just stick it in the fridge while I gather everything together and

then just proceed like I'm using water. But it will get real sludgy &

thick when first mixing it with the lye. I just keep stirring like

crazy. But depending on my FO's I get anywhere from a nice creamy

white to tan in my finished soaps.
