Deb-

Nope. :-D Not unless it is a steam distilled citrus EO. Cold pressed

are not to be used on the skin, even skin that you 'think' won't see

daylight, and my feet see a LOT of daylight.

Hi Deb,

The only skin safe essential oil are lavender(s), and maybe Manuka. Even

Tea Tree is apparently more effective at a 20% dilution.

the 5-fold orange oil is described (by one of the sites that sells it)

as treated thru distillation the turpenes are removed, rendering the folded oil

safe for use in leave on products such as lotions. The scent lasts longer,

resistance to oxidation color more intense.

So.....is this not true???

Life is not how fast you run, or how high you climb, but how well you bounce.

ALL EOs need to be diluted before putting them on the skin, and to a lot

less than 20%. Most of them, if used on a regular basis, are safely

used in dilutions of less than one-half of one percent. I am one of

SEVERAL people I know who are sensitized to Lavender EO from neat

(undiluted) usage - and not a lot of it, either, and I know of someone

who had a severe reaction from using Manuka neat on acne. Also there is

a lot of information starting to come out of Australia now about

widespread Tea Tree sensitization because of it's overuse in every

product you can think of.

Don't ever, ever put ANY EO on the skin undiluted, and some (such as

citrus and any but extremely fresh pines) NOT AT ALL.

As to Debbie's question of where to get steam distilled citrus EOs - I

know that Butch at www.av-at.com does carry some.

Best wishes-

Lynda

Deb and all-

I emailed this morning because I thought, hey, maybe I'm wrong!

You never know! This is what he replied to me...

My personal feelings are based on being sensitized to just about

anything that moves, going from being allergic to nothing to being

allergic to everything. And a large part of that is my sensitization to

Lavender EO. I always feel that if there is no definitive data, err on

the side of caution. Period. Because sensitization is pretty ugly.

Now I could have sworn that Butch had at least a steam distilled Lime?

It is gorgeous, I know that! Butch, am I confused on that?
