Guest guest
Wow. How horrid. So did they catch the gunman??? My aunt Joan was working at the Customer Service Desk on the 3rd floor of the Von Maur store doing gift wrapping. One woman (Beverly) said that she gets off work in a couple minutes at 2pm. Then, they heard gunshots! Joan (my aunt) said that sounds like gunshots and Beverly said " IT IS! " So Joan and another woman (don't know her name) dropped to the ground and Joan crawled on the floor to the other side of the desk. Then together they both crawled to the right to a doorway, stood up and RAN to a storage room in the back and hid. Beverly ran to the left and was shot and killed! Her body was laying next to the department manager's body. Luckily he lived but is in critical condition. Finally the police came and led them down to the lunch room. The officer told them not to look down but my aunt did. She saw blood and bodies all over the floor! In the lunch room she borrowed a cell phone and called Doris who is her oldest sister (and my mom's too, of course) and told her to call her kids and say she is fine. Later they moved them to JcPenney's and she borrowed an officer's cell phone to call her son Tim to pick her up. All of the employees had to leave their coats, purses and cars at the shopping mall. Joan is having a hard time dealing with what she saw and knowing that she could have easily been the one who was shot and killed. Nights are the worst for her because she wakes up seeing the blood and bodies again. All of the employees had to go to a hotel to pick up their things and there she spoke with a counselor and that helped her some. My aunt really doesn't need to work. She just wanted to get out of the house. Her husband (my uncle Darby) died two years ago from cancer and she hasn't gotten over that, now THIS! But I'm praying that she will be all right. She is pretty tough for a 76 year old! Anyway, that's all I know about what happened. I haven't spoken to my aunt yet but should in a day or so. Guest guest
The gunman killed himself. He was 19 years old and wanted to commit suicide but wanted to become famous while doing it! It was very sad story. He has had plms since his parents divorced. My aunt Joan said it was his parents fault that he did that! I'm surprised that you didn't hear about it, it was all over the news last week, JenDarcy Ledman wrote: Wow. How horrid. So did they catch the gunman??? Guest guest
I know what you mean Kassia but I wanted to share with all of you what my aunt went through. It's really a blessing that she made it out alive. I wish that things like that wouldn't happen. They seem to be happening more and more often nowadays.
