Guest guest
Hi! Even though snow isn't that unusual here (DC area) every time it does snow there is sheer panic on the roads! Today the trip to preschool took 40 min (normally it is 8 minutes). I worked from home b/c I had heard that the back up on the highway was 3 hours long and I could believe it since a trip of about 5 miles or so took 40 min! I've never been to the Pacific NW, and I'd love to see it - the pictures I've seen are gorgeous, but I don't think I can take so much grey - I really feel better all around when the sun is shining! Take care, Donna --- Pink Pussycat wrote: > Ug! 9 degrees?! > > It's a big deal if it ever snows here in Porland, > Oregon, and usually is snowy (max 6 " ) for around a > week and it's awesome, we get days off work > sometimes for icy weather cause none of us are used > to driving in it! Guest guest
Hi Darcy, Telecommuting is really the only reason I stayed at work after DD was born - I couldn't have managed to work full time otherwise. It is also the reason why, now, I don't really look for other opportunities and put up with grief and stress where I work - many other places don't allow telecommuting and it really is important to me, and will be even when DD goes to kindergarten next year (just so much easier to balance everything if you have flexibility!) Guest guest
Here in Wisconsin we got our first storm of the season over the weekend. We've also had a few more flurries since then. This is the first winter in a while that we've had long-lasting snow before Christmas. It reminds me of the way it was when I was growing up. And my 8-year-old son likes it too! , stay warm out there in the NW!
Guest guest
Donna, I totally agree on the needing the sunshine. That's why I love Georgia so much. Where I am now, we may as well be in Florida we're so close and my husband (who was born here) had never seen snow in person until we moved to North Carolina for a while. When I first moved to Atlanta in 1991, we got an inch of snow once and the entire city shut down. The mall wasn't even open because they didn't know how to drive in it! So while I learned to drive on it in Oklahoma where I grew up, I won't drive in the state of Georgia if there is snow on the ground because it is so rare that no one else knows how to drive on it. I can't imagine what they'd be like if they got the snow you guys get. It would probably take 8 or 9 hours to get across town!
