Guest guest
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/6396473.stm this isn't a mis post. It says that a drug which blocks the action of GABA (whatever that is) removes some of the learning difficulties of people with Downs ie they are not incurably genetically handicapped but can be ameliorated mentally. It gives the name of the drug. I'm posting it here because someone wrote about GABA and autism. Does this suggest anything to anyone? Guest guest
GABA is a calming neurotransmitter (as opposed to an excitatory neurotransmitter like glutamate) which is essential for speech! There must be more to it than that if you need to block it! It says in Yasko’s book that glutamate can help with ability in numbers/ maths and our kids often have an excess of it and not enough GABA. Maybe Down’s kids have too much GABA and not enough glutamate. Haven’t got a clue really but it doesn’t sounds feasible to me with my tiny knowledge.
