Guest guest
are we kin???????????? I do have some tincturing. Can't tell much tho. I suppose I need to add more now and just keep adding until its all gone....... thats how I am about jasmine and amber ........'hey look at me, the soaper with the dark glasses and tin cup!'...... I thought I'd purchase a wee scent of tuberose.........OH NO I DI'INT.....Sweet Cakes has a very expensive fo thats called 'carnal' and I might have to bite the bullet and use an fo in kasey's blend....its all done but that and needs a little more rose de mai and jasmine and its done! I could get 50% off if I had my tax id.....drat....I love the rose essence oil at Edens....I love a lot of things at edens LOL....I'm so tempted to buy the artisans alcohol that is woody because they used balsam of peru...that would soooooooo work with Kaseys scent since its amber, patch, sandalwood, balsam of peru, vanilla eo, rose, jasmine , ylang and then neroli and 5x orange which totally lifted that to fresh and she lacks tuberose so if one thing is synthetic I think it would be ok... 15.00 for an ounce of that 'Carnal' at Sweet Cakes and they say since it is so expensive not to use it for soap.....and someone sent me two bars of lye processed soap using amber in one, sandalwood in the other.....real btw...you can't smell any of it.....the process totally made those scents null and void....so rebatch yes, a bar of soap, body oil , lotion or solid perfume? of course.... You know I dare to dream that one more try will be the one that works.....I've chased that carrot all of my life and I'd like a bite of that ! I need to create something someone wants to buy the rights to..... could happen. e

I have some orris powder and would like to make my own tincture. Anyone have a tried and tested recipe they could share? In return I'll send some back if successful! Kerrie > Hi deedee...... Here's how I've done tincturing in general..... Start with high proof alcohol...190 proof (95%)...... Add a " charge " of whatever you are tincturing....The amount of the charge...depends on how much alcohol and how big your jar is.... Cover the jar.... Let sit for two weeks, three weeks or whatever feels right....Some folks, when they are doing flower petals wait for the color to disappear from the petals....Shake and/or swirl periodically.... At that point filter...... Repeat the procedure until you like what you have, or run out of whatever you're tincturing....You may have to add some alcohol (again high proof/percentage), because some gets soaked by the filters, and the charge itself.... Generally speaking, when I'm done with the last filter, I seal the jar up tight, and age at least a month or two....The tincture typically improves with aging......And it keeps for a considerable time.... You don't have to worry about bacteria or rancidity or things like that, because the hi-proof alcohol kills any bacteria, yeasts, molds, fungi or other critters that can cause that kind of problem... An added benefit, is that most any EO or other natural essence will dissolve into your tincture, or your tincture will go into any alcohol type blend.... I don't know if that will help, but that's how I've done tincturing.... I am not a tincturing maven, but we've a few on the list....You'll probably hear from them, too.... -- W. Guest guest
AH, next on my list to learn to do. For now? Not sure about the orris but someone mentioned using the powder to scent my papers....sounds like a lovely idea....my fliers and envelopes in my drawer and that scent? Oh yes! There are so many things I want to learn and do. Its as if I've woken up from a 7 year dream and I'm running out of time. And you know, I dare to dream that even at my age.....I just might have another shot at achieving a goal. I'm daring to dream and as a baby boomer person, we have to reinvent ourselves and in this economy it takes two to three jobs to make it and we have one........total.......disability is NOT winning the lottery. but if I can get established perhaps our golden years could be a little easier and MAYBE my husband who is a wonderful artist will once again do what he is good at and prove to himself what other's always said 'how much do you want for your work?'.......man, if I had that type of talent I'd soooooooo blaze.....I'd poop out fast but I'd git while the gittin's good thats for sure! with the net, we could live anywhere! I have read that honey can be used to bind materials for incense.
