Guest guest
Hi n, starchy carbs from the natural source are a great source of vitamins, fiber. I think bodybuilders generally stick to starchy carbs rather than fruit because they are complex and not simple. In other words, it is processed more slowly, there isnt the same sugar rush and insulin rise that you get with fruit (fructose). When getting contest ready, fruit and dairy is eliminated while brown rice and oatmeal are still eaten. But, I've been reading all kinds of stuff on actually REDUCING starchy carbs and eating more fruit to get lean. One advocate is Berardi, who encourages eating fruit/veggies at every meal, rather than starchy carbs. The only time he recommends starchy carbs is around workouts, to refuel glycogen and assist with muscle growth. The focus on fruit is similar to the Lean out diet has posted on her site. , do you have any insight here? I have been following an eating plan where I eat more fruit/veg at each meal lately. I do eat oatmeal post workout or in the morning to get my starchy carbs then. I am also trying to get beans as a serving of carb once a day (usually lunch, M3). Depending on what my husband makes for dinner, I have a starchy carb at dinner but I've been trying to elminate this and have fruit instead. Basically I've been following the lean out diet and Berardi's guidelines to see if I can get to the next level of fat loss without starving myself. lol >>>>>>>> I've been following this way of eating since late August 2005.
