Guest guest
So I told my ex that I was doing this program and he says I'm going about it the wrong way. He says that in order to not bulk up I had to do light weights and more reps. I countered by saying that if eat clean and lose fat then I won't bulk up by doing Body for Life. IS there any credence to what he is saying? Any thoughts? BTW, thank you for listening/answering all of my inane questions.

Guest guest
That's old school, very very old school. The pink dumbbell theory is that women don't want to build muscle just " tone " and lose the fat. So the men, with all their macho wisdom, said " don't lift heavy, WE don't like muscular women. " What they failed to learn and pass on is that you must have great gobs of testosterone to bulk. So unless you plan on starting some daily injections of anabolic steroid you have nothing to worry about. What you will end up with while lifting heavy are some very sexy female muscle with all the curves that the guys like to see and you'll feel sooooooooo much better. Guest guest
Oh Boy, if I had a dollar for every time a man has told me this. It's not that easy to pack on muscle mass. Especially to the point where you'll look masculine or bulky. Most professional female bodybuilders(natural), take years to add a lot of mass. Genetics has a lot to do with it. However, unless a woman is using steroids, or other type drug, the chances of her losing femininity are slim to none. Training with weights is the ONLY thing that gives me the curves and feminine definition I love. Guest guest
Hee hee, that's just one of the reasons he's my ex, ladies. I knew I was right! Thanks for the back-up In , " Kiki " wrote: > > Oh Boy, if I had a dollar for every time a man has told me this. > > It's not that easy to pack on muscle mass. Guest guest
Hi All! I'm back and at it again. Had to chime in here. Last week told a guy I was seeing that I was going out to buy 20# and 25# db's. He told me the same thing, lift light and I told him NO, I want to be STRONG not skinny! He told me I'd end up looking like a man, and all I'll need is a penis. Told him I already had a large one in a drawer at home that would put most men to shame. That shut him up. Sorry if that offends anyone! I gained 20lbs after losing my dog. In my first week back on good food and exercise, I lost 5lbs. I also started adding the ground flaxseed to my shakes. I still add oatmeal in it too. I use 1% milk, 1 scoop oatmeal (protein shake scoop) and 2 T of the flax and one scoop powder. I use a Thunder stick (immersion blender) South beach diet frozen meals were on sale, so I stocked up my work fridge (most at 20-30 grm protein/carb ) and they are yummy! My mom sticks her nose up at my advice, so I told her to give me a month and she'll SEE I know what I'm talking about. And she can lift her lil pink db's all she wants, and eat low fat, and we'll compare. Ha! I almost feel like I'm cheating because I know the right way to go about it. BTW, when I lifted with a trainer for a couple years, ate what I wanted, lifted heavy, I ended up 116, not big and bulky. Right now I'm at 155. Although I had gained 20lbs, I continued to lift, had strength gains. So I may have maybe (hopefully) done a bulk, so now I can strip off the fat. I don't want to get down so low in weight, I want to be a muscular, strong, fit and able 130lbs. I am 5'3, small boned (finger overlaps just the nail) I also want to join in the quest to do pull ups! Guest guest
Good luck Leilani, I'm sorry to hear about your doggy :0( I'm cheering for you to shred up your muscle on the lifts I have to say its fun to walk around with #30 DBs in the weight room, and get stared at... " Whats the girl with the pink-ribboned ponty-tail, gonna do with all that weight? " haha hehe, I think my mom would faint if she saw that scene. I would love for her to wisen up on nutrition, just cuz I worry about her getting more unfit. Isnt it overwhelming, the way a mother and daughter relate to EACH OTHER's bodies? The neurosis runs deep. I care/worry about her body, and she does for me too. I will NOT have her body when I'm her age though...THATS decided already. -- > > > > So I told my ex that I was doing this program and he says I'm > going > > about it the wrong way. Guest guest
Kiss him on top of the head and thank him for his concern, but assure him he should not worry his self about it. Have you seen 's pics? Is she " bulky " ?....she's been doing this for years, Body for Life and even more intense workouts. If she is not bulky, I don't suppose most of us need to worry. On top of that, if you do BFL and find that you are not happy with the size of your muscles...all you have to do is back off. I guarentee you your hard earned muscle will gladly go away again, quickly.
