Hi ,

The Free T3 is excellent, right where it should be and the reference range for the Free T3 is correct. This is somewhat confusing as the TSH is high and anything over 2 is suspect for hypothyroidism, although again, the Free T3 is good.

I'm not sure what value they are measuring with the Free Thyroxine, I am unfamiliar with that. It may be a nonsensical value that means nothing like the "Free T3 uptake".

There is always the possibility of lab error. What I would do in this case is get him/her retested and if you get the same Free T3 values, I would not worry about it. I would also try to get the Free T4 values in addition to the Free T3 and TSH, this may tell you more.

If we take these values as true and you would give Armour it would/might push the Free T3 over the edge resulting in hyperthyroidism.

If the free Thyroxine is the Free T4 it makes no sense as the Free T4 gets converted to Free T3 and you have plenty of Free T3. Iodine and selenium are used in the case of the Free T4 being low as these nutrients are needed for conversion to make adequate Free T3.

You also might try posting these values at the

NaturalThyroidHormone and see what they might tell you. There are some real experts there although I found that no matter what they always recommend Armour or more Armour, but they might be able to decipher what exactly is going on here.

I have never seen values like this with the TSH so high and the Free T3 in just the right spot. Sorry I cannot be of more assistance.

,

I don't know if the other test was needed as it appears he is converting just fine although if that is the Free T4 I don't where he is converting it from.

My best guess that this is a lab error and although I sympthasize with you about the blood draws as ours is the same way the only way you can be sure is to retest.

What symptoms if any does he have? Have you tried taking his temperature and seeing if it is normal? That sometimes is a big clue as low body temps and dry skin were our only tip offs to her low thyroid. She is tall and has a ton of hair and those two things (slow growth, thin hair) are the two biggest symptoms.

This is my granddaughter, my dd used to get so worked up over bloodwork when she was 4....she actually collapsed her veins one time. A very small amount of a sedative (oral) had to be used to get her tested. They had no numbing cream back then.

Hi again

I have googled and Free Thyroxine is Free T4 (part of T4),

Triiodothyronine is T3 so in that case the results really don't make

any sense?

You mentioned that selenium and iodine would help in the conversion

to T3 could this stange result be explained by his currently being on

selenium ?

He is tall, overweight , low energy, often has a high temperature as

he has problems with his immune system (when he gets a cold he gets a

burning red rash where ever his clothes rub his skin etc ) I will

spend the next few days checking his temperature (currently 96.8 F 36

c). Hair normal to thin. More recently eyebrow growth between the

eyebrows. skin good

Here , they don't like to use the numbing cream as it makes the viens

smaller and so harder to find (so they have told me. ....may be a

load of rubbish)

I have requested to join the group you mentioned, I will let you know

what they say.
